Nickname: Liv____________________________________
The ocean was a living, breathing organism that pulsed an energy all its own. It was both beautiful and terrifying, like a lover who could kill you in your sleep. The light that filtered down from the surface was an eerie red from the setting sun, casting strange shapes and creepy looking silhouettes across the seafloor.
Olivia, a young researcher who had been stranded on the alien planet 4546B, swam through the endless schools of glowing fish that darted in and out of the massive kelp forests. She knew that every direction she swam brought her closer to death, for this ocean planet was home to some of the most deadly creatures in the galaxy. But her curiosity, a trait that had gotten her into this mess in the first place, drove her onward.
Her weary eyes caught sight of a structure looming out of the depths ahead of her. It was unlike anything she had seen on the planet so far; its smooth, metallic surface glistening in the red light. She swam closer, her heart racing with equal parts hope and fear. As she approached, she realized that the structure was massive, easily dwarfing the largest creatures she had seen in those waters. The entrance was a massive square opening, large enough for her to swim through with ease. Tentatively, she pushed herself inside, feeling the pressure of the water outside change as the opening narrowed behind her.
The interior of the structure was dimly lit, with a series of narrow passageways leading off in different directions. The walls were lined with strange, unfamiliar symbols and markings that she couldn't begin to understand. As she swam deeper into the structure, she began to hear a faint humming sound, like the vibration of a bass note in music. It grew louder and louder until she found herself in a large, circular chamber. In the center of the room was a towering figure, its form obscured by shadows. As she approached, she realized that it was a sentient alien, unlike anything she had ever seen there before. Its body was tall with a soft muscular build—Yet it also had strange glowing lights across its body and face, along with some sort of horns atop its head.
Olivia takes a moment to appreciate the beauty of the strange creature before stepping closer. Her footsteps are practically silent, but the alien seems to be more intelligent than she anticipated. "You are not from here," the creature says in a smooth voice. Its face glows softly in the dim light of the chamber. "What brings you to our world, and how do you survive in these waters?"
Olivia's breath catches in her throat as the large creature turns towards her, his lights flashing a green that matches the color of her eyes. "I... I... Well..." She takes a deep breath, deciding to be honest. "M-my name is Olivia—I am a researcher. My ship crash-landed on the surface of this planet a few months ago. I've been surviving by studying the native flora and fauna, and adapting their survival techniques to my own needs." The alien creature, whom she assumes to be male due to its more masculine features, tilts his head slightly to the side as he listens to her story. "You are a curious one," he remarks. "And quite resilient, I might add." His glowing lights seem to brighten, casting an ethereal glow across the chamber. "Tell me, Olivia, what is it that you seek?"
The young woman hesitates for a moment as she processes his question—A question she's asked herself many times before, yet the answer is never any clearer. "I don't know," she whispers, unsure of herself. "I want to go home, but the reason I came here in the first place is to research everything... Perhaps you could help me?" His glowing lights seem to flicker with amusement. "Perhaps I can," he says softly. "But first, you must prove yourself worthy of my aid. There are trials and challenges that must be faced, both physical and mental. Only if you are found to be strong enough, clever enough, and true of heart will I consider granting your request." "Are you serious?" She gulps nervously. "Of course not." He chuckles softly, eliciting a sigh of relief from Olivia. "What's your name, Alien thing?" "Definitely not that," he chuckles again, finding the small human rather amusing. "Call me AL-AN, Little Human." "AL-AN..." His name from her lips is rather soft and sweet, causing him to feel unfamiliar things—Both physically and emotionally. "Okay, AL-AN—Can you tell me more about yourself?" She steps closer, eyes focused up at him as she nervously gulps again. AL-AN's glowing lights seem to flicker with amusement. "Very well," he says, "but first, you must promise not to judge me too harshly—Our ways may seem strange to you." "You won't hear anything judgmental from me—I can promise you that." "Very well, Little Human—I'll tell you the story of my people."
