' ' = inside your head

"   " = speaking out loud

(The morning of your first day at the Daycare)

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP

"mmmhh, the... hell...?"

As you slowly rubbed the sleep from your eyes, you raised your head up to see your bedside table, where your alarm clock layed. The clock read 4:30 am, you sighed.

"cmon... it's too early..."

'Wait why was the alarm clock going off anyway, I don't have any assignments that I needed to finish last-minute nor any exams to study for.'

'Oh... that's right... I have a job now'

'Well at least I finally found one, I've been searching for a job for what feels like months'

'Eh, it's better than nothing, and being a security guard doesn't sound so bad.'

Slowly rising from the comfort of your own bed, you slammed your fist on the off button on the alarm clock and stretched out your arms and legs, before setting off a mission to find the light switch. You used your hands to guide you along the wall in the pitch-black darkness, knocking a couple of things over in the process.

"ah, here it is!"

As you turned on the light switch, you hissed at the sudden brightness, after letting your eyes adjust to the light, you made your way to the kitchen to make yourself a cup of coffee while scrolling through social media on your phone.

After finishing what you could call a breakfast, you brushed your teeth, had a quick shower, put on an outfit that you put the night before, (which was a plain light blue T-shirt and a pair of long black leggings) you then applied some light make-up and slipped on a pair of red Converse.

Before exiting your apartment, you grabbed a monster energy drink from the fridge and slipped it inside of your backpack.

'Just in case...' You thought to yourself

After locking up your apartment, you waved to your next-door neighbour Ann who was outside watering her roses. She was a sweet old lady in her 80's, and there wouldn't be a time when she wouldn't be in her garden. And the reason why she spends so much time in her garden is that sweet old Ann is actually extremely competitive. And has been competing against Ben (your other next-door neighbour) for 'the best-looking garden award' And the judges were coming today to visit, so it's only appropriate that Ann and Ben were doing some final touches to their garden.

"Wow, you sure are up early" sounding almost impressed.

"I could say the same with you too, Ann"

"Doing some last-minute preparations, I see?"

The lady chuckled a bit, "Oh, you know how it is darling"

Suddenly you heard a creak of the wooden fence that separates your propriety from Ben's You quickly turned and sure enough, you saw him peering over the fence.

"DON'T LISTEN TO THAT OLD HAG, my garden is clearly more beautiful and unlike you, I don't have to do any last-minute changes. My garden is PERFECT, PERFECT I TELL YOU!"

Ann tilted her head so she could look behind you"OH, SHUT YOUR TRAP YOU OLD FART" "We will see who wins the trophy this year"

You not wanting to be a part of this argument any longer you turned around and started to walk towards your car "Anyway, I better get going, Best of luck to the both of you!"

You waved goodbye, but they didn't even acknowledge that you were leaving they just keep glaring at each other. You then proceeded to jump in your car and drive to the Pizza Plex.

I hoped that you have enjoyed this chapter, sorry if I got a bit too carried away with Ann's and Ben's rivalry against each other. And it's really bad I know, but I did have fun writing this chapter and I hoped that you have fun too. Also let me know what you thought in the comments below, thanks :)
