A Change of Spark (Starscream X Reader)

Chapter Four: Betrayal

So the human agreed to help us find Energon to make their little science project. They used their scanners to locate the energy source that Energon radiated. I'm still very much in the dark about what Energon is supposed to look like because Starscream won't tell me anything. I'll get more answers out of him when we're not around the rest of these humans. Speaking of, the leader has a name: Silas. Not a name I ever wish to remember. I have a bad feeling about him.

Anyway, they had located some Energon and we were currently seeing if it was actually there. Starscream would talk about how he once tried to convince his former master, Megatron, to have some human companions as it seems to give the Autobots, Bumblebee's team, an advantage. Is that why he brought me with him? Because I'm useful? Maybe. But Starscream said, in short, that Megatron wasn't willing to do that. I guess not everyone likes humans.

I know I'm one but I've not had a good time with other humans. Why do you think I'm scared of hunters? Silas asked Starscream if he ever shut up. Not in those exact words but it's basically what he meant. That was just rude. I like what Starscream has to say. And he probably didn't have many people to talk to until he met me. Silas left us with one of the soldiers. But they ran off when Starscream said to them that he once killed an Autobot. I'm not sure that's something you should brag about but okay.

At last, we found our Energon. It was blue crystals. They were so beautiful and the smell of them was so nice. Heavenly even. M.E.C.H mined the Energon that was there while I stood by and watched. Didn't know what else to do. After a few hours, plus a nap, all the Energon was mined and taken back to M.E.C.H's base. I would just follow Starscream the entire time. To be honest, this whole process, I wasn't a part of. All I know is that they just started to melt down the Energon to use on the robot.

Though I did manage to steal a small bit of it. If Starscream wants me to track down more, a sample would be handy. I also caught up with food since I hadn't eaten this entire time either. I wish I had some chicken. All I have is little things like birds and mice. The rats always hated the mice. All cooked, of course. Back to the others. Finally, we got to infuse the Energon into the robot so the T-Cog could work. Which I think it was doing.

Starscream was excited to see what wonders this would do for Silas' future army. I don't want to know. But we'll soon be ready to see it transform. That's when the doors practically blasted open, making everything shake. We looked over to see Bumblebee walk in through the smoke. All the M.E.C.H soldiers aimed their guns at Bumblebee. Starscream assured them all that Bumblebee was unarmed because he had no T-Cog. Using one of the missiles on his arm, he shot at Bumblebee who managed to dodge it and make his way to the robot.

Everyone started shooting so I decided to hide. Starscream saw me hiding and ordered me to wait in the forest that was right next to the base. Oh, happily! I ran out as the battle continued. So I have no idea how the battle ended but what I do know is that Silas had escaped not long after I did. Time to wait. Feeling very much uncomfortable around Silas and his men, I decided to camp out in a tree until Starscream came back. I'm a good climber. When Starscream did come back, Silas was quick to ask about the T-Cog.

"My T-cog," Silas said

"Yes, that. Unfortunately, it was destroyed during the ferocity of battle" Silas glared at Starscream, "A, uh... a temporary setback. Other Autobots, other T-cogs. We shall find a replacement soon enough."

"Not 'soon enough'. Now!"

All of Silas' soldiers came out of hiding and pointed their guns at him! Starscreamjust looked at them all before they stunned him, making him scream out in pain! Taking out my knife, I jumped down from the tree and started to defend Starscream's unconscious body. I did my best until one managed to tackle me to the ground and take my knife! I had to watch M.E.C.H. operate on Starscream and take his T-Cog! I tried to wriggle free but they did not let me go.

They only let me free once they had taken the T-Cog away. I took my knife back but they were gone by the time I could do anything. Putting my knife back in my bag, I tried to get Starscream awake and away from here. When he did wake up, he just seemed rather dazed after what happened. I tried to explain what had happened but Starscream ignored me and got up. He looked over at the abandoned M.E.C.H. Base.

That's when we saw what looked like a portal appear and more Autobots coming out of it! Obviously scared, Starscream tried to transform but he couldn't. I said about what happened now that he would finally listen to me! Just ignoring it for now, Starscream and I ran for it. Once we felt like we were far enough away, we stopped to take a breather.

"I'm so sorry about your T-Cog. I tried to stop them but they held me back," I said

"I believe you," Starscream said.

But he was quick to just fall down and hold his head in pain.

"What's wrong?" I asked coming to his side.

"Energon deficiency. In other words, that operation has made me lose a lot of Energon. I feel so dizzy," Starscream explained. 

"Would there be any left in the M.E.C.H base?"

"We used it all on their little science experiment. Not even a drop is left."

I looked away before looking at my bag. I still have that Energon shard but I don't know how much will be left. And I need this to look for more. No. I won't be selfish. I took it out of my bag and held it up for Starscream.

"I stole it so I could easily search for more. But you need this so we'll just start over," I said

Starscream took it from me, "You sly little fox. Well done. It's not much but it will do for now until we find more."

I smiled, finally feeling useful. We managed to melt it down safely so Starscream could refuel a little. He felt a little less dizzy and we started to walk to anywhere which might have some more Energon. I just want Starscream at 100% again. I don't like seeing him in this state.
