I WALKED INTO THE ACADEMY DOORS, my hands tucked into my skirt pockets as I mindlessly hummed under my breath, unaware of the fanatics my twin brother was pulling at the moment.

He wasn't in the apartment when I had woken up but I wasn't worried. Somehow he always managed to pull himself up no matter the situation, and I was confident he'd be perfectly fine without my help. Besides, I didn't want to miss any classes. Who knows when they could be helpful to me?

Although between the two of us, he was the older twin, I was usually the one who looked after him and made sure he kept out of trouble, but it wasn't always an easy task. While he liked to run around the village and cause pranks, I usually spent my time training and helping around the village as much as I could.

The villagers were never the nicest to either of us, but I always helped nonetheless. It took me 8 years but eventually I had had enough of not knowing why we were treated poorly and did my own research. Grandpa Hokage wouldn't tell me why, and no one else not even Iruka-sensei would say a word about it.

So I decided to spend time in the library, and when I didn't find anything there, I may or may not have snuck into the Hokage Building to search the records. I got results, but I certainly wasn't happy about them. Jinchūriki's, both of us.

The records said that the Fourth Hokage and his wife died while sealing the Demon Fox in us, the night it attacked the village. I found it strange that was the same night we were born but I didn't know what to think of it. I couldn't find our birth certificates or any mentions of our parents either.

I wasn't a Nara, my intellect wasn't as refined as theirs, but I wasn't dumb. Every person born in the village has a birth certificate somewhere, it wouldn't make sense if we didn't have one. They were hidden somewhere, I didn't know why, but it was the only explanation. It didn't matter how long it'd take, I'd find them someday.

I sighed dejectedly. I always wanted to know who my parents were, why they left us, what are clans were like, what their secrets were. I only knew a few things about the Uzumaki clan. They came from Uzushiogakure, but it was destroyed a while ago. They supposedly were masters at Fuinjutsu, the art of sealing, so I learned their techniques. It made me feel like I actually had a family in a way, it made me feel connected to them.

Brushing off my somewhat depressing inner monologue, I reached the classroom doors. It wasn't full yet, and Iruka-sensei still wasn't here, but the room was moderately filled with students. I spotted Shikamaru laying face down on his desk in the back, taking a nap most likely. My best friend Hinata was sitting calmly on the opposite side of the room, nervously ringing her hands in front of her. I smiled at her before I locked eyes with him.
