Weeping Willow

Yiling was staring at the swaying bare branches of the willow. They were dyed in red from the setting sun and looked peaceful.

So very peaceful.

''Ahh... This place is as beautiful as ever''

She used to come here whenever she felt sad, happy or simply yearned to look at the sunset. The tree was her friend, her best ally, her only support. Her feet dangled from the top of a sturdy branch, and even though it was cold out, Yiling didn't care. She loved the cold air that brushed on her bare ankles and that made her red dress flutter. She parted her crimson lips and heaved a sigh.

''You see, I have to make an important decision right now. It will change the course of my life. What do you think I should do? Should I take this opportunity or let it pass?''
She knew the tree wouldn't answer her, but it was exactly what she wanted. Someone who listened to her without saying anything. She leaned back on the firm ivory trunk and contemplated the sinking sun.

''Everybody thinks I'm crazy to want to do something like this. They don't think I should. I've never done anything for myself before, so I think I'm going to take this chance''

How lucky she was to be alive at this moment. The long awaited hope for freedom was finally here.

''Yeah, I'm definitely doing it. I don't want to live in regret later on.''

With that, Yiling jumped from the willow's branch, her red dress followed behind. The stout rope followed her slender neck and almost immediately, a dry "crack" was heard. Her elegant neck was snapped. And Yiling was dangling from the branch in her red bridal dress. She couldn't continue living like this. She couldn't marry her own cruel brother. The very one that killed her fiancé. The person she hated and despised the most.

She just couldn't.
