I walked around bustling streets decorated in nature. Syl sat comfortably on the top of my head while my hand petted her gently. Warmth basked in the sunlight of this peaceful day with Tessia by my side, who was munching on a snow cone.
She wore her sunhat and sundress with pride as we strolled around the local town within Elenoir. It was soothing; after all that time in Bedrock Gorge, it was a stark contrast compared to my current setting. I almost forgot that this new world I found myself in could be peaceful. My smile snuck its way up the corners of my lips as I took it all in.
"Hold it, Monkey!"
A light pitched shout caught us both off guard as we focused forward. A young blonde elf and his posse of delinquents stood smug before Tes and me. My nonchalant attitude got the best of me, a sneering smirk rose on my face, and I instinctively pointed at Tess.
"Her?"
She aggressively stomped her foot before pointing her snowcone at me; I swear I saw her veins pop out of her forehead above her angry face.
"Hey!"
I chuckled and pushed the snowcone away gently back towards her. Though our confronters seemed to have lost their patience as I watched them powerwalk towards us.
I stood my ground, finding it hard to take these misguided children seriously.
"Can I help you?"
"My name is Feyrith, heir to the Ivsaar house, and I've come to duel you, Monkey!"
My brow raised, and before I could give my input, Tessia intervened, arms fanned out, separating us, and her snowcone finally fell to the floor. I chuckle a bit at her encompassing demeanour backed by a buzzkill.
"Feyrith, that's enough; you have no right to challenge Elder Virion's student!"
"Oh? Don't tell me the Elder's humble student isn't brave enough to fight me; I'm more worthy than this commoner!"
I sigh, gently pushing Tessia aside; as I finish, I follow up with a sock to Feyrith's jaw, watching as his face slowly disgruntled into a jumble of skin before reforming back to normal from my fist's impact, sending him flying right after. His cronies watch as their "leader" is left on the ground unconscious before they stare back at me; I give them a stern warning with a nonchalant expression backed by vivid annoyance.
"Anyone else?"
Their faces froze as their bodies jolted, picking up Feyrith on their shoulders and sprinting away. Tessia stuck her tongue out at the trio before turning back to me.
"Let's keep going?"
I nod in kind.
"Let's."
The rest of the day was rather dull and full of odd stares facing me; the most probable reason would be my unnatural appearance. Though it was way less malicious than I was used to in Ashbern, I resembled elves more than humans outside of my non-pointed ears. Titles such as "hybrid" come to mind when thinking back to the elves who whispered a tad too loudly.
I rested my torso against a platform railing gazing at the sunset; Tessia did the same as I reached my hand toward the horizon.
"Your training starts tomorrow. Are you excited?"
"I'm excited, though Virion wasn't exactly full of details when we discussed it. I wonder what he can teach me."
"Well, My grandpa's an accomplished king back in his day. I'm sure there are loads to learn from him. Besides! you'll have me around, so it'll be that much better!"
