The next day...

Sam had woke up early, and couldn't go back to sleep. Chara was still asleep, so she got out of bed as quietly as she could so she wouldn't wake Chara up. As she got out of the bed, Chara sleepily tried grabbing Sam's hand to pull her back, while she mumbled in her sleep "Dont go... im gonna get cold..." Sam smiled at this, loving how cute Chara was when she talked in her sleep. She walked quietly down the stairs, only just noticing that it was still dark out. She checked the clock, and surprisingly it was only 4:31 in the morning. Sam silently groaned, this was the worst possible time to not be able to fall back asleep!

she suddenly heard a quiet knock on the door. She hesitantly walked towards the door, unsure of who could be knocking this early in the morning. Didn't they have anything better to do? She slowly opened the door, and a mysterious hooded figure stood in front of her. She then noticed the figure was holding a scythe. "Good evening, my queen." It grumbled. Sam then recognized who this was, an old friend. Literally. This entity was 1000 years old, and had been with the Hades lineage for decades. Maybe even centuries. It was death himself, the grim reaper.

"*Sigh*. Reaper, what are you doing here?" Sam asked the figure. "Sorry, my queen, but there's a situation with the prisoner." Sam shook her head before holding her forehead in annoyance. "What has he done now?" She leaned on the doorframe.

"He tried to escape his cell and got his head stuck in between the bars." Sam laughed lowly at this. "Fucking idiot. He deserves it. I'll be down there in an hour or so to teach him his lesson, but can you modify the bars on his cell so their crushing his skull a little?" She asked reaper, to which he nodded. Sam turned away, but reaper put a hand on her shoulder. "How has life been for you, my queen?" He asked. "Well, it's been going rather well, I even have another girlfriend again." "But, you know how the others turned out. So make sure the guards are always on full alert from now on, because at this point it's probably inevitable that i'll get cheated again, as much as i want to think she'll be different."

Reaper nodded again, before exiting through a portal of swirling red energy, which soon closed itself off. Sam groaned. She hated this damn job, but then again she was the only other living descendant of Hades with remnants of his blood in her. So she couldn't even pass the job off to some other demon even of she wanted to. There were some definite benefits to it, though, it wasn't nearly enough to offset the negatives.

Chara tiptoed away, having heard all of this she was so incredibly confused. She really shouldn't have followed Sam and listened in on her conversation. Sam suddenly appeared behind her, and put her hands on Chara's shoulders. "How much did you hear?" Sam asked with a hint of anger in her voice that Chara picked up. "Enough to know you apparently think I'm going to cheat on you." Chara said coldly, trying to retreat to the bedroom. Sam pulled her back. "It's not that! It's the fact that it's happened so much that I'm expecting it to happen at any time!" Sam responded, as Chara walked up the stairs and into the bedroom.

Chara sat on the bed, Sam following. "That still isn't an excuse."

Sam growled. "You don't get it, do you? I'm constantly living in fear that i'll get betrayed again, and no matter what i do i can't silence the voice in my head telling me that its going to happen again!" Sam sat on the bed, and put her head in her hands.

"I won't be like them, I promise. You can trust me." Chara affirmed, trying to reach for Sam's hand, but she jerked it away. "All of them said that! And all of them broke that promise! Every time someones said that I can trust them, I get stabbed in the back!" Sam yelled with tears forming. Chara held Sam in her arms, comforting her while she cried. "I want to believe you when you say you'll be different, I want to hope that. I really do. But as much as I want to hope you'll be different, my hopes have been shattered far too many times for hope to mean much to me anymore." Sam sniffled while blowing her nose on a piece of tissue paper. "My first was exactly like you, kind and caring, and appeared to be the kind of person that would never cheat. Then she went ahead and cheated on me, for god knows why. So i killed her in anger and frustration, and tried to find someone who would be different. But as we both know... that didnt happen."
