Oscars life was long. Well it was long time wise but for him it was relatively short. Born in 1750, in Jersey, United Kingdom, but only lived 20ish years of the 260 years since.
He had a semi normal life up until 1772 when he went missing. I say semi normal because he is from an advanced race of humans known as 'Tomorrow People' that unfortunately went extinct in 1856 after being hunted down by a cult named 'Present'.
Tomorrow people have special powers that are called T3 or 'the Three Ts'. Telepathy, telekinesis and teleportation. Oscar was able to control his powers very well which is hard for Tomorrow people. Thats why they were hunted down to extinction, leaving only Oscar, because people, normal people, were scared of them.
Before Oscar's disappeared he had a wife and two twin daughters, who where unfortunately tracked down and murdered for their close connection to the tomorrow person shortly after his disappearance.
As for Oscar's vanishing act it was the fact that he went missing at sea, on his way to London from Jersey, after his ship went off course and they ended up crashing into the Artic. Oscar, only 21 at the time, was put into a cryogenic state, thanks to his advanced anatomy, and was left there until 1938 when he was found by a German scientific organisation called HYDRA.
From that point forward he was mind controlled and sent into battles going by the alias 'Tomorrow Soldier'. He had all his memory of before frozen and he didn't want to do all of HYDRA dirty work but it was like he was a passenger in his own body. He was tortured for days on end and was enhanced even more with a serum called Super Soldier Serum. He was left with scars littering his body like a map of torment.
He was never left out of cryostasis for long and had hardly aged a year by the time he was finally freed by another soldier in 2003. He didn't know why his partner, The Winter Soldier had done it but he didn't question. He ran and ran until he eventually made his way to America.
It was very different from what he remembered and now back in control of his life he decided to live his life. While in hydra he had things implemented into his mind and one of those things was hacking so he made himself a fake life and gave himself enough money to survive.
He bought a little ranch about three hours outside of New York. He had horses, cattle, pigs, chickens and a dish pond.
Peterson might have decided to live life but that doesn't mean he isn't still an assassin who is unprotected which is why he has a gun locker loaded with weapons.
He also now drives which he learnt how to do with the HYDRA implements. He bought himself a black Ford Ranger which he thought looked nice.

Oscar always carries around a gun with him. Always. Even just working around the ranch he carries a gun in the back f his pants and a knife on his ankle.
