Laura's POV

"I will not put you in such a dangerous situation just because I have no son." my father hissed, " But dad you have no choice, your age to retire is fast approaching and you need to pass the business to your nearest eldest child... dad please I am 18 now" I pleaded with him. " Laura I said what I said and it is final!" he slammed his fist against the dining table, " Fine then, goodluck looking for a son who will represent you at the annual Mafia pass-over next week" I snarled then stood up to leave. " Laura calm down" my mother held me by the wrist as I was about to walk away, " I'm beginning to see that I am just a trophy that's not meant to go anywhere" I shook her off then stormed to my room.

I slammed the door and threw myself on the bed, why wouldn't he just let me do this for us? It's not like there is a rule somewhere that states that every mafia leader should be a man, women can be superior as well. As I was lost in my train of thought, I heard my phone buzzing beside me. " Hello?" I spoke into the phone as I answered, " We are still going out tonight right?" a voice replied. " Who's this?" I asked confused, " It's me you Alien" she snarled into the phone, " Hey Jada" I chuckled. Jada was my best friend of 6 years, We've been friends since we were 12 years old. Her father is in our Mafia as my father's right hand man, and they are also great friends.

" Yes Jada I'm joining you tonight like I promised" I smirked to myself , " You promise to loosen up now?" she quickly asked me. She gave me the nickname Alien because of the fact that I always go out with her but never drink nor flirt with anyone, I was the type to always turn everyone down. To be honest I always turn people because of my dad, he raised me like how a man should raise a son not a daughter. I was trained like a hitman at the age of 16 and I had my first kill at the age of 17 which was not intended, my dad always told me that anyone who threatens my family deserves death without mercy. However even though my father trained me like a top hitman, he still doesn't trust that I can take care of myself in the mafia.

" Laura, can we talk" a knock came from the door, "Sure mom I wouldn't wanna disrespect you in your house" I mocked rolling my eyes. My mother walked in my room and sat on the edge of my bed then looked at me " Laura you know your father is only acting this way because he loves you... right?" she sadly commented, " Mom please, talk to him... I'm more than capable of taking care of myself and I already know how to fight, why is he treating me like I am weak?" I snarled. " He's not treating you like you are weak my dear, he's afraid of losing you to death" she stretched her hand and stroked my cheek. " Fine then" I snarled then stood up and walked to my bathroom, " I'm going out tonight hope I don't die" I mocked. I closed the bathroom door and turned on the shower then stood the the door listening to her footsteps.

I listened as she closed the door indicating that she left the room. " Fuck" I sighed as I realized that I was hurting my mother with my actions, I went on and took my shower and picked out an outfit for the night. I knew that I needed a distraction from everything that is currently happening.
