It is important to know who exactly you're looking at when you're reading a book. The characters are a vital part of it. And I say, what better way to know the characters than to see them? An image of each important character will be provided in this section, as well as a quick description of personalities. All of the reference is done by my dear friend Abril, who sadly has no social medias for me to credit to. Enjoy.
SOPHIE WALTEN
Sophie is young and easygoing. She's more tomboyish than other girls her age, despite her clothing choices. She's extremely interested in exploring and other outdoor activities. She's almost always got some kind of dirt smudged onto her knees, hands, or face. Jack always sends her off to clean herself up, but she doesn't really stay clean for long. She is very close with Edd and Molly, but doesn't have as strong of a connection to her parents. A lot of times, she's rather oblivious and naive, but she's a quick learner and doesn't put up with people mocking her. She's got a temper to match her father's, generosity and hospitality from her mother, and a lot of the rest of her personality from her uncle Felix. He's not actually her uncle, with him and Jack simply being close friends, but he helped to raise the kids enough to be considered one. Although she is often considered impulsive and extremely energetic, she's quite deep and thoughtful as well. She's always interested in a good book.
JACK WALTEN
Jack is quite a memorable man. Meet him once, and there's no forgetting him. He always dresses very formally, and insists that people dress "two promotions above whatever job they already have". He's a bit of a neat freak, if not a bit of a freak in general. People have always thought that he acts on impulse, and it's true. You can't help but like him, though. He's charming and intelligent. He doesn't have any enemies, and he couldn't have any if he tried. Or, well, we'll see about that... Anyways! He's used to getting what he wants, and his charm allows for this to be encouraged. Although Felix has always seemed to be just a bit more popular than him...
ROSEMARY WALTEN
Rosemary has always been sweet and quiet. Generous, hospitable, and kind are all words to describe her. However, such traits only allow her to fuel Jack's power-hungry personality. She will be the first to do something he asks, and she always reassures his choices, no matter how unreasonable or rash they are. She's always seemed rather distant and quiet. Her favorite activity is to gather flowers on a sunny day. (If you can name at least one of the flowers she has in this picture, then congrats! I can tell you what the names are upon request too, though ;D) She is somewhat close with Felix, but she's closer to Jack than anybody else. She is a good mother, even though she doesn't have such a strong connection with Sophie. At least she tries her best.
FELIX KRANKEN
Felix has always been a charming man. He's poetic and artistic, always coming up with great ideas for projects and activities. Despite never having any children of his own, he has always been like a second father to Sophie, Edd, and Molly. He taught them to make art, to make machines, and to be a better person, and Sophie always was closer to him than Edd and Molly. He is rather popular, though he isn't aware that Jack is or ever would be jealous of him. He's always looked up to Jack. They have been best friends for almost their whole lives, and Felix wouldn't have it any other way. Although he finds some of Jack's ideas rather questionable and often a bit concerning, he's always willing to listen to them. His trust is in Jack, but what would happen if this trust was betrayed? Would he have anything left, or anywhere to go?
