As sparks crackled gently on the coal fire, Violet shivered in front of it. She was only in her underwear, due to Freddy's ridiculous dare from earlier, and the cold was beginning to nip at her. She was seated next to Daniel, who started taking his jacket off to place around her.
Violet was flattered that he would do this for her, but refused to let him go cold. "We are here for the night. We might as well get warm and settled."
She stood up and began picking up cushions from Nicole's sofas, throwing them on the floor. She threw a faux fur pillow towards Daniel which he caught.
"What are you doing?" he enquired with a laugh.
Picking up a blanket, Violet moved back to the shag rug and seated herself upon it next to Daniel. "I'm making us a den."
"A den? Really, Violet?" He grinned. "How old are you?"
"Legally, seventeen. Mentally, a toddler."
The brunette took the opportunity to raise a cushion above her head and strike it into Daniel's chest. The teenager caught it with some shock, then shook his head with a smile.
"You're challenging me to a pillow fight, huh?"
Daniel raised a cushion of his own and hit it into Violet's head, causing her hair to ruffle with static. She gasped jokingly.
"Oh, I'll so get you back for that Daniel Larusso."
The next half an hour consisted of the two teenagers chasing each other around the apartment with pillows held high above their heads, swinging them in every direction. Each blow caused white feathers to spill onto the floors, swan down covering the carpet. Laughter filled the room and Violet couldn't imagine that whatever Nicole was up to could possibly be as fun as this.
With an attempt to strike a particularly strong blow, Violet was quickly prevented, as Daniel reached towards her and swept her off her feet. He held her tightly in his arms as she kicked and tried to break free.
"Danny, put me down," she pleaded through laughter.
"What's the magic word?" he taunted.
"Please."
"Actually, the magic word was abracadabra, but you're pretty, so I'll let you have it."
Daniel lifted Violet and gently threw her onto the pile of pillows in front of the fireplace. She landed gracefully, then looked up at Daniel in mock annoyance.
"Oh, so we're throwing people on the floor now? In that case - "
She grabbed his shirt and pulled him down. He fell (not as elegantly as Violet had) and in doing so, accidentally pushed her down and landed on top of her.
