Doug finally looked up from his computer, noticing Clyde still hadn't arrived to work. Doug decided to ignore this and continued working on the slideshow they were presenting to the bosses tomorrow. He brought his head up again once he heard his phone ring on the other side of the desk. He stood up slowly and grabbed his phone, checking the caller info: Clyde. He answered the phone with a smile "Hey Darling, you're still not at work, what's up?"

"Doug, can you pick me up, please?" His voice sounded panicked, like he was about to cry

Doug raised an eyebrow "What's happening? Are you okay?"

"Just please pick me up. I'll tell you about it later"

Doug held back a sigh and grabbed his keys "Alright, where are you?"

"The police station..."

"Wh-? The police station?"

"Yes, just please hurry" Clyde said, his voice breaking at the end.

Doug nodded, even though Clyde couldn't see him "Yeah, I'm leaving now". The other line clicked and Doug packed up his things.

Jeannie and Marty looked up at him and Jeannie raised an eyebrow "What's going on?"

Doug sighed, grabbing his keys "Clyde's at the police station."

"So? It's not his first time there."

Doug sighed "I know but... he didn't sound good. He sounded like he was going to cry."

Now it was Marty's turn to raise an eyebrow "Clyde doesn't cry."

Doug grabbed his keys off the table "I know.". He sprinted out of the building and into his car. This is probably just another one of Clyde's pranks on me, right? Yeah, that's it. He tapped his index finger, trying to believe what he just told himself, but Clyde had never sounded like that. Ever. His mind was racing as he pulled up to the police station and tried his hardest not to sprint into the building. He came up to the front desk "I'm here to bail someone out?"

She glared at him before answering "Name?"

"Uh, Clyde Oberholt."

Her eyes flicked to her computer as she typed for a moment "Bail is 500 dollars"

"500 DOLLARS?!" Doug exclaimed before he could stop himself. He flushed with embarrassment before pulling out his credit card "...do you take card?"

They did, in fact, take card and it was only a matter of time before bail was paid and Doug was sitting on one of the uncomfortable chairs in the room. It was about 20 minutes of worried fidgeting before he heard the door open across the room, he looked up quickly.

He almost wished he hadn't.

Clyde looked... well, awful. His suit was torn and dirty. A large cut was still slowly seeping blood down his cheek. His hair was messed up and Clyde looked utterly defeated. Doug stood up, walking over to him. Clyde just inched forward, resting his face on his lover's chest. Doug wrapped his arms around Clyde protectively, feeling the man in front of him shake. He rubbed small circles on his back "Hey, hey, hey. It's okay."

A rough looking officer stood at the door "you'll receive a letter in a few days with details of a hearing and it's a large fine if you don't show up."

Doug nodded at him and was handed a clear plastic bag that contained all of Clyde's things before leaving without a word. As soon as he was gone, Doug led Clyde to one of the chairs as he let out a choked sob. Once they were sitting down, Doug played with Clyde's hair, knowing that calmed him down a bit. Clyde's grip tightened on Doug's button-up as another sob escaped his throat. Doug held him as close as possible, whispering sweet words to him "It's alright, love. I'm here."
