So, the saying is true. There's nothing that can't be cured by sleeping. Maybe except a broken heart. Though Jin Woo supposes he should not be the one to talk about it. He was not the one who had to nurse a broken heart, he was the one who broke someone's heart.
Even if he also broke his own heart in the process.
Mi Jo's bitter face and the hurt in her voice almost kept him awake this afternoon. He was dying to hear the rest, but the medicine kicked in and he had to succumb to its power.
The last thing he heard was—
She flew to meet him in Granada when he was hospitalized after falling from the 6th floor. Because she still loved him. Man, the way his heart swelled when he heard that. How come he didn't know this? How come no one told him this fact?
He remembered how he longed for her the full month he was in recovery. How he kept wishing she was there with him instead of Jung Hee Ju, the sister of the game creator he supposed to meet.
The younger woman felt guilty that his accident happened in her family's hotel that she kept coming to tend to him. He asked Jung Hoon to send her home but she persisted to stay. Though he never saw her.
He was in his bed, wallowing in pain and sadness and missing the love of his life. He knew early on that he made a big mistake by breaking up with Mi Jo, but if he had to point out when he realized how big his loss was, those days in Granada were the first that came to mind.
To hear she came to visit him but he never knew about it made it somewhat worse. Something must have happened, something that forced her to turn around.
Maybe— he can get up and find her to continue their conversation. If this is the one chance he is granted to win her again, he shouldn't waste any more time. One year is enough.
Jin Woo stretches his body and his stomach rumbles. He glances at the clock and chuckles. He can't remember the last time he sleeps this peaceful and long way past lunch.
He will take a shower then have some lunch. He's famished. He opens the door to get out of the room to a woman's shriek as he sees Mi Jo loses her balance with the food tray in her hands. He catches her before she falls to the ground and successfully holds the tray for her so everything is safe.
For now.
"Oh, thank god!" Mi Jo exclaims. "Just take the tray, Yoo Jin Woo." She continues.
Jin Woo chuckles and follows her request while his body still acts as support. Mi Jo tries to straightens herself up but she ends up putting much of her weight to Jin Woo. His knees wobble and slowly they fall down together to the floor, right at the door.
Sitting behind her, one hand on Mi Jo's waist and the other holding on the tray, Jin Woo bursts out laughing at their situation and Mi Jo follows suit. She leans back settling herself to his body and on reflex he gathers her closer to him.
"Are you okay?" He asks as he puts the food tray on the floor beside him.
She still laughs and Jin Woo wants to bottle up the sound and frame her face for his keepsake. He pinches her softly at her waist to stop her laugh but it only makes her laugh harder. They sit comfortably on the floor until their laughter ceases.
"You surprise me, Jin Woo-ya. I thought you were still sleeping."
"I was on my way to take a shower. I'm hungry."
"Then I come just in time."
"You do. You really do."
"So, lunch first then shower?"
