AFOs can be used to support weak limbs or to position a limb with contracted muscles into a more normal position. In addition, AFOs are used to control foot drops caused by a variety of neurologic and musculoskeletal disorders.
Who will Wear AFO

Provide 3 point forces so that Correct the deformity,
Maintain the Deformity so that it can not increase further,
Maintain physiological gait,
Prevent excessive movement so that it can prevent deformity
Maintain the centre of gravity in position so that balance would be maintained.
In case of diabetes protect the foot so no further wound
In case of trauma maintain the muscle tone so that it can prevent further toughness/contracture
