I'm back.

It was Mabel telling me about some brunch meeting next week. You know how she is, talking about mimosas and avocado toasts.

It's strange how she keeps in touch with me while you, well, don't anymore.

So, as I was saying, you were that odd mysterious boy with a strange aura surrounding you. And I was like any average girl, I didn't do much sport, I didn't particularly excel in music, not even academic studies, but I did have a thing for art. You even called me 'right-brained'. Sure, that sounded weird to me but that's how you put it. You just knew everything. You were some guy everyone put on a pedestal, shining in a beam of light, you were top in everything and for some average girl like me, that was amazing, it was stupid to not look up to you.

After the first semester out of three, our chemistry teacher put us together, you and Cody probably had a fight on grades or something, because never in my wildest dreams had I ever even thought you'd sit next to me. This was shocking news to me, not because I was sitting next to you, but because I was finally away from Candy. Did my parents ever tell you I jumped so high on my bed that I fell unconscious? I only recently remembered about that, and that I missed school for a few days. Not that you'd have noticed I was gone anyway.

Even though you and Cody were now separated by a few tables, him sitting in the front and you sitting in the back with me, you guys still found ways to chat to each other, trying to pass notes via paper planes, shooting in all directions and one of the girls in our glass got an eye infection from that.

You were so cold to me at the start of that semester, you barely even talked to me during practical work or even discussions, when we were supposed to talk! I was so prepared to go tell my friends how weird you were after each lesson, but every time I was, you fascinated me with something, something so unordinary I just couldn't bear to change my friends' opinions on you.

One time, I messed up an experiment really bad, and by bad, I mean super bad. Some acid metal mixture was foaming everywhere and I was because I added too much something, somehow, you fixed it, you told me what to do and you saved me from detention. Also, an honourable mention to that time when Candy was caught with my notes and convinced the teacher I sold them to her, which was prohibited in our school, before the teacher could hand me a detention slip you told the teacher what really happened and for that I'm still grateful, you, again after multiple times, saved my clean slate!

Somehow I was almost in trouble, every single time, you came to the rescue. This was the start of my fascination and amazement. Although I was still not convinced you were some god of looks, I'd have agreed that you were a cool guy, who never talked. You never told me, why you helped me? But why did you never talk to me?

I recall one day, after school, in early February, where our chemistry class was right before school ended, and you saved me from some large explosion thing I almost caused due to me chatting to my friends. I saw you weren't walking with Cody or your sister, so I followed you outside the school, and then you turned to me and said, 'Why are you following me, do you want to bother me even more than just now?'

I was really offended but I knew you were annoyed by going through what you did to help me. 'No! I'm not! I just wanted to ask you something.' I replied, in a kind of shakey and taken aback way.

'Go on then, don't waste more time than you already have.' You responded, still confidently. One hand in your pocket, looking back at me in front of the setting sun. I couldn't even see your facial expression.

'Why do you keep helping me?' I asked, feet glued where I stood and upon no reply, I added 'Is there some reason you keep doing that? I mean, you don't even talk to me in class, nor in school.'

'What?' You stared at me oddly, as if I had just admitted to you that I was a wizard or something.

'Like, why are you so nice to me?'

'I'm not.' You replied distantly and walked off.

What you said didn't mean a grain to me, nor was I bright enough to decipher what you said, but the way you were so independent on yourself shocked me. You didn't even wait for your sister to walk off, you just, did.

After that, I told Gideon about this day, he is my cousin if you still remember and he always told me to watch out for you. You were some dangerous animal that preyed on girls' hearts. It never felt that way to me, I hope you know that. Gideon had his doubts but when we became a pair or an item, if you will, he had definitely softened up to his view on you. And for that I am glad.

I never once doubted the way you were or acted, whether they came from bad intentions or good ones, it didn't matter to me, but I was drawn to you nonetheless.

Just you, and your best friend, chilling out in front of me, during chemistry class.
