A Week Later

Oloni had been ducking and dodging Michael
as if she owed him money.

She went as far as switching her work schedule
to hours that Michael did not attend just so
she wouldn't have to run into him. It's not that
she wanted to do this but she had too.

She was engaged to another man and had to let
the infatuation she felt for Michael dwindle. She assumed not seeing him physically would help but
she felt worse; she missed Michael terribly.

The guilt inside ate away at her psyche, she felt
like shit for cheating on her fiancé. She felt guilty
for laying next to him every night and wishing it
was Michael.

Oloni felt guilty for wanting to cut off the
wedding that was less than two weeks away.

She didn't understand why she had the urge to
destroy a solid relationship for a man she barely
knew. A man who probably just wanted to get in her pants anyways. What the fuck was she thinking? Daydreaming about running away with a man she
met in a Adult Cinema. Was she insane?

Her fiancé, Reginald, was nothing like Michael.

Reginald had morals, he always played it safe and
was devoutly religious. He was actually an inspiring preacher which was why he could barely afford to
take care of himself and his soon to be wife.

Oloni remembered when Reginald told her that he
left his decent paying job as an accountant to become
a preacher. She was so distraught because it was after she said yesto his proposal. She didn't understand why he would make such a fiscally irresponsible decision when he was getting ready to start a family with Oloni.

"I was led by faith." Was his excuse. God, she wanted to kill him but instead Oloni stuck by his choice and trusted that things would work itself out. However, things did not pan out as fast as Oloni wanted, the young couple were dead broke and barely had enough to cover rent at times. She resented her fiancé at times.

"God will make a way." Reginald would always say.

Oloni didn't even understand why she wanted to
be with Reginald besides familiarity. The two met when she was a freshman in high school. Reginald had always been religious even as a teenager. Oloni was drawn to Reginald during the time because of her Religious background, which made them closer.

Oloni grew up a church girl but when she entered college, she started to question her religion.

Certain things just didn't make sense and people
who she looked up to in the church would have terrible scandals that would get swept under the rug. She lost a lot of respect for the sanctimonious liars and did not understand why these people weren't questioned for their hypocrital behavior. It pissed Oloni off but what could she do really? Not much of anything.
