Light brown hair flowing back in the wind, the young girl laughed and spread her arms out as if she was about to embrace the wind then slowly spreading them out to her sides taking in the breeze. She brushed her bangs out of her hazel eyes and patted down her yellow dress to turn around and face a field of wild flowers. Over joyed she ran to her heart's content and didn't stop until she was out of breath, giggling like a maniac taking in the beauty of surroundings and how everything was... perfect.
"Teresa!"
The said girl broke out of her reverie disappointed that she didn't get to dream more. Well, that's what it always is... a dream.
"I'm coming!" Teresa jumped off her bed and ran out her door, down the stairs, into her father's office, but only he wasn't there. Thinking of where he would be she decided on going into the living room to find her father on the couch with some strange (but pretty) lady who had two kids by her side. One was a girl and the other was a boy, they had the same hair color and almost the same height, except the boy looked the same age as her while the girl looked younger than the both of them. The girl had her long black hair into a side braid with a green flower right where the braid started, she had on a dark green dress that matched her green eyes which were currently wandering around the living room. The boy on the other hand had on a plain white shirt with a black button up over it, some blue jeans, and white shoes. His hair was slightly ruffled and his dark blue eyes fit him at that moment as he was giving Teresa a cold hard glare.
"D-Dad? Wh-Who are th-these p-people?" Teresa said mentally scolding herself for her stuttering.
"Oh! Teresa, this is Mrs. Wallace and her children." He said with a smile.
The lady stood up and smiled at Teresa, her dark brown hair in curls falling onto her shoulder on her dark purple business suit. She extended her hand out to Teresa, "It's a pleasure to meet you."
Teresa looked into her light blue eyes to see if her gesture was friendly or fake before deciding to shake her hand. "P-Pleasure to m-meet you t-too."
Mrs. Wallace looked behind her and motioned for the two children to stand up as well. "This is Delilah," Mrs. Wallace said motioning to the young girl.
"Hello." Delilah said with a bright smile.
"H-Hi." Teresa said with an equally bright smile finding an immediate liking to her.
"And this," Mrs. Wallace said looking at her son, "is Ryder."
He looked at her with those oh-so-cold blue eyes but didn't say a thing to her.
"H-Hi R-Ryder." Teresa said trying to be friendly and extending out a hand to him.
"Can you at least not try to stutter." He said glaring at her. His mother and Teresa's father were taken aback by how rude he was being.
"Ryder!" Mrs. Wallace said scolding the young boy.
"It's o-okay," Teresa said with a sad smile on her face, "I-I'm u-used to i-it." All the people in the room glanced at the girl with a surprised expression. "It d-doesn't b-bother me any m-more."
"Teresa, honey, why didn't you tell me?" Her father asked kneeling in front of her.
"B-Because I d-didn't w-want you to w-w-worry." Teresa said struggling hard at her attempts to not stutter.
"That's why you wanted to move schools in the first place, isn't it?" Her father asked worry evident on his face.
"Y-Yeah."
The man hugged his daughter and tried to comfort her when she started crying. Meanwhile, the Wallaces watched as the scene unfolded before them and didn't know what to do until the girls cries died down.
"P-Please forgive m-me. Th-That was em-embarrassing." Teresa said as a light blush appeared on her cheeks.
Ryder slightly blushed and stared at Teresa wide eyed from the corner of his eye. Quickly gaining his composure he mumbled a, "Yeah, whatever." While the mother and daughter duo had a glint in their eyes.
"Aww, Teresa honey, no need to be embarrassed." Mrs. Wallace cooed while giving her a tight hug.
"Yeah," Delilah said giving her a sweet smile, "actually you looked cute being all embarrassed."
Teresa's blush grew and she didn't know how to react to what the younger girl said. "Th-thank you." Teresa was released from the woman's death grip and she turned to face her dad. "S-so wh-what's the o-occasion?" You asked him referring to your guests.
"Ah, yes! Teresa, Mrs. Wallace was good friend-" Teresa's dad said before he was cut off.
"Leonard! I was a good friend? You're so mean." She pouted, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Heh, sorry Jenny. You are a good friend. How bout that?" Leonard asked her. Jenny rolled her hand signaling for him to keep going. "Fine, you're the most amazing woman-friend a guy could ask for and always were." He said staring at her with a look that said 'satisfied?'
"Awww, shucks. Thank you." Jenny said.
"As I was saying," Leonard said, his dark brown eyes staring at all of them, "We had seen each other at the market and thought it would be good to catch up. And when we found out both of us had kids we thought it would be an even better idea for you kids to meet."
The three kids looked from one another until Delilah linked arms with the other two surprising them both. "We'll be the best of friends too!"
Teresa looked at young girl and the older boy and smiled. "Y-Yeah!"
