―chapter zero:

HE STOOD THERE, phone pressed against his ear, impatiently waiting for her to pick up the phone. he knew she was either sleeping or wasn't allow to pick up the phone since she was up in the air yet that didn't stop him wanting her to answer. when her voicemail answered instead for the third time, he sighed.

"hola, it's lucero, leave a message after the beep and i'll try to get back to you as soon as possible. call you later, adios." hearing her voice brought a smile to jackson's face. if he was being completely honest with himself, he could listen to her talk all day and he wouldn't or more like couldn't get enough.

everything about her was perfect even if she couldn't see it or didn't want to see it. but that was okay, because jackson decided that he'll spend his entire life making sure she knew how prefect she was and how in fall he was with her.

jackson looked over his shoulder, briefly seeing alex and april argue, he turns back around taking a second before talking. "you're wrong. i understand that you're scared and honestly, i'm scared as well. but what we have... our love for each other, lucero, it's special and it's beautiful and it's... what I'm trying to say is that I'm not letting you go anytime soon. not now. not ever," he pauses replying their last conversation over again. a small frown appeared before he shaking his head, clearing his throat: "i love you, i really love you and i know you love me too. so with that, i'm choosing you. where ever you go, i go. if you go then, i go. you wanna leave seattle then we'll do it together, alright? but if you stay, then i'll stay. i need you to get here as soon as possible because we're going to make this- us, we'll make it work, okay. i love you, sweetheart and I'll see you when you come back."

he hang up the phone, pressing it against his chest with a small smile. "we're going to make it work, we'll finally be together." hope and love spread throughout his entire being, believing that they were finally going to have their forever. he looks down at this phone before returning back to his friends not knowing that the love of his life was fighting for her life at this very moment.

jackson avery did not know lucero ignacio was fighting against the clock every second as she laid on the cold ground, bleeding herself to death while her person, derek shepard held her hand pleading her to stay alive. derek held back a sob as she took small painful breathes, whispering the name of her lover. derek finally cried as lucero begged jackson for forgiveness. to forgive for her not loving him as he deserved.

meanwhile jackson was having dinner, lucero was asking derek to tell jackson that he was the love of her life and without him her life held no real purpose. she begged derek to tell jackson that she was desperately in love with him and to tell him that if they had another chance, she would not miss her chance in loving him. she would not let him go because what  jackson avery and lucero ignacio had was special, their love was real and it would be a tragedy if it ended without a happily ever after.

if jackson knew that lucero's plane crashed in the middle of nowhere while slowly dying, he would absolutely gather every single person in the world to get her back. he would spend every single penny under his name and under his family to pay a huge amount for search and rescue. he wouldn't stop till she was back in his arm, safe and sound.

because if jackson knew that lucero's dying words were meant for him - begging for forgiveness and telling him she loves him as she hallucinate him being there with her - he wouldn't be spending his precious time watching alex and april argue about which hospital they were deciding to go to, instead he would be screaming out orders to find his lucero. he would be out there looking for her and not waste another second that meant she was closer to death.

because if jackson knew. . .  if he knew that lucero was hurt and dying, begging for him to come, then there wouldn't be anyone or anything in this world from stopping him from getting her back. because jackson avery made a promise to lucero ignacio, a promise that if she ever needed him he would be there no matter what. and if anyone knew him, if anyone knew what she means to him, they knew that he hadn't and never will break his promise to her.

because jackson avery is desperately in love with lucero ignacio and would do anything for her.
