chapter two: 'invasion' ― season six, episode five

STEPPING THROUGH THE FRONT DOORS of the hospital, Lucero walks along with her best friend and mentor, Dr. Derek Shepherd. He eyed her for a moment before chuckling, "long night?"

Lucero snorted at his question but smiled nonetheless, "best fuck I've ever had." Derek rolled his eyes at her crude words, he had long gotten used to her bluntness and honestly, and if he was honest it was refreshing, to say the least.

Entering the elevator, they've noticed Mark with a group of people wearing bright orange scrubs. Lucero scrunched her nose in dislike, looking at them up and down, "hideous."

Derek nudged her side before smiling apologetically at them, "sorry about her." He took her elbow passing the newcomers, "play nice," he whispered, walking towards Mark, who stood at the back.

Rolling her eyes, Mark smirked: "you and I know that's impossible."

Lucero huffed: "how can I play nice when they're making it impossible. I mean look at them," turning their attention at the group, "they look like they just broke out of prison."

Mark covered up his laugh when Derek gave him a look, "backorder," his simple word made her huff again.

"That's dumb. This entire thing is dumb," Mark and Derek smiled down at the Hispanic, finding her childish words quite funny. "Chief Webber just dropped from my favorite five."

Crossing his arms against his chest, "I'm number one right?"

Derek and Lucero shared a look before turning to him, "if it helps you sleep better." Mark frowned, his brow furrowed before pointing his finger at her: "you're a mean one."

Lucero winks at Mark just as the elevator doors open, "oh, you know you love me." She walks out laughing when Mark yelled out that he doesn't anymore.

For the first time in days, she was feeling great. Last night she had the best fuck since what felt like forever, this morning the barista didn't fuck up her coffee and she found twenty dollars on the sidewalk; despite having the invaders crawling around her turf, today was going to be a great day. Or perhaps not.

Lucero walked into the resident's locker room just in time to see Alex holding back Izzy as she's screaming at an orange-wearing Mercy Wester with a - in Lucero's opinion - outdated pixie cut, "I said take it out."

Looking around the room, people were gathered around her friends and four Mercy Wester. Her eyes slightly widen recognizing one of the invaders - the man from last night - but her shock quickly went away when she noticed the situation. The outdated girl was putting her things in her dead friend's cubby, in George O'Mally's cubby. She then turns to her redhead friend annoyed, "great I got the crazy one next to me."

The redhead looks nervous as the giant man laughed out loud, his laughter did nothing to ease the anger that was quickly rising in her. If they think that they could laugh at her cancerous friend and disrespect her dead friend, then they have another thing coming.

Lucero's soft yet harsh and cold voice caused Chewbacca's laughter to stop. "You think that's funny?" At her words, everyone turns her way, and just as expected her one-night stand's eyes widen but thankfully he didn't say anything. Ignoring him, her brown eyes locked with the one that started all this.

A sigh of relief escapes Izzy's lips and Alex relaxes his hold on his wife, thankful that Lucero came just in time. Seattle Grace workers turn towards one another before shifting their eyes at the pixie cut with a cocky smirk. They've all known how protective the Hispanic was towards her friends, they knew how petty and cruel she could be towards those who she didn't like and these newcomers just made the list of people Lucero Ignacio did not like.

The pretty boy looked confused yet intrigued with everyone's reaction towards her. He could easily see that everyone respected and was somewhat afraid of her. It seems as if she was about to handle the situation and make his friend do exactly what she wanted.

Slowly making her way towards the shorter girl, pleased that she unconsciously took a step back. Lucero secretly scoffed, it didn't take much to intimidate them: "my friend's nice, but I'm not."

The pretty boy snorted at her words, recalling last night's memories. He knew exactly how not nice she could be. He was going to have those nails and bite marks for a long time, which he wasn't complaining about at all.

Standing an inch or two taller than the newcomer, Lucero looked down at her with her famous bitch-face: "take your shit out of that cubby and find yourself a new one."

The shorter girl cleared her throat, before saying "no." The redhead gasped at her friend's answer, not knowing where her newfound bravery came from. Chewbacca smirked, chest-puffing out in pride through pretty boy's eyes were solely on Lucero wondering what she was going to do about it.

The dry laugh that left her lips wasn't something either he or his friends expected. Her friends and the people who knew her shuddered to hear that laugh, they've known what that meant and it wasn't going to end well for them. Lucero looked over her shoulder at her friends, "she said no."

Suddenly a feeling of dread was in the air as she turned with a sickly sweet smile on her face: "just remember that I'm not a nice person."

Without saying anything else, Lucero walked away from them, making her way towards her locker. The room was deadly silent as they've watched her take off her shirt and pants, changing into her navy blue scrub. Pixie cut jumped when Lucero's locker door slammed shut.

She didn't utter a word as she left with Alex and Izzy, though she did catch the eyes of her one-night stand. He smiled cheekily at her, his beautiful green eyes brightly shining at her, which immediately made her roll her eyes annoyed at him.

Making sure she wasn't there, Seattle Grace workers turned to the Mercy Wester their chests out in pride. "You shouldn't have angered her," one of Lucero's co-workers said while the others nodded their heads. "She could be a real bitch when she wants to. Don't be surprised if your things are missing at the end of the day."

Pixie cut rolled her eyes at their words, "let's go," she mumbled towards her friends while ignoring her enemy's words and stares. She didn't believe them, she was confident that her things would be there it's not like she had the combination to her new locker... right?
