Marcus POV
I arrived at Nairobi, Kenya about a month ago. And the purpose of this visit was purely work related. I came to do the finishing touches for my new 7 star hotel in CBD. I have been meeting with the county government ,as well as different officials to try and get a business license. Its a tedious process because this damn officials want to be bribed at every step.
I was here an year ago, when I bought the land where the hotel was to be built and so far that was the easiest part of this journey. I had to deal with contractors while I was outside the country but I love the finished product. They did better than I expected for people who are unsupervised. Now that the hotel is built and furnished, I need a license for operation ,a liquor license, food inspection and so much more.
I have been trying to sort everything out for almost a month and now it's finally happening. I have always wanted to build a good exotic hotel in an African country and based on my research Kenya came very highly recommended. I have a chain of hotels around the world but this has by so far been the most frustrating of them all. I love Kenya ,it's beautiful really you should see it ,the sceneries, the people, the weather, the wild animals and it's a growing national so it has a lot of potential.
Some people call me one of the wealthiest people in the world but I like to think of my self as a visionary. I see an opportunity and make the most out of it while making a profit. I saw an opportunity the last time I was here and now I see my vision coming together. I came with my assistant because I needed all the help I can get and I am sure she's having some fun when she's not working.
Today has been one of those stressful days ,I have a meeting with the governor of Nairobi county and then later on go out with some friends. They have been trying to get me to go out but I have been too busy and frankly speaking I didn't feel up for it. But today has been a long day and I deserve a drink.
" Sir your meeting with the governor starts in 5 minutes" Adeline informs me ,she's my assistant.
" Okay, is he in the conference room?"
"Yes, we already gave him a drink while he waits"
" Okay, thank you"
I stand, wear my jacket and walk to the the conference room. He is already seated with a glass of whiskey in his hand. I extend my hand for a handshake and then take a seat. We start the meeting and talk about the process of getting a work license. He says that he has a condition that 70% of my employees should be Kenyan in order for him to help me out.
I agree to his condition because I can see that he is a good man who wants to help his people. Plus the whole point of this business is also to create employment for the community. We agree on everything and the meeting ends. We stand shake hands and then I escort him out of the building to his car.
Now that the meeting is successful I have about two weeks to hire employees and open the hotel. I go back to my office and ring for Adeline.
" Adeline ,I want you to tell the head of communications that I want adverts for the jobs to be up today. We have very little time before we open the hotel and I want to start the interviews latest on Tuesday."
" Yes sir " she says leaving to do what I asked for.
I check my phone to see it's already 6pm and it's time I went home to freshen up. I call my driver to bring the car around and meet me upfront. By the time am outside ,I find him waiting outside the car. He opens the door for me and I get in. Once am seated he closes the door and gets in the drivers sit and starts the car.
My driver is a nice Kamba guy called Mati, he has a wife and two kids. I took a liking to him during his interview and hired him immediately after. We drive for 20mins and then pull up at my house. I get off the car and inform him that I'll see him in two hours and walk to the house.
