August 5th
When Golf Ball finally returned to consciousness, she felt more exhausted than she ever had in her entire life; it was like she'd never slept at all.
The awakening was a slow one. Despite her exhaustion, the first thing she noticed was simply a feeling of familiar comfort — one she recognized, but also one she somehow knew she hadn't felt in years. It lasted for several minutes as the rest of her body and mind began to wake. Aches in her feet, one arm feeling lighter than normal while the other was heavier, and a dull pain in the back of her head slowly overtook the initial sense of safety. Urgh. Whatever happened yesterday must have been wild.
Then she thought, Wait... what even happened yesterday? Still groggy, the globule tried to remember. We... we were all walking. It was raining, and then... and... then...
All the memories suddenly flooded back in an instant. Golf Ball's eyes snapped open and she shot up so fast that Pencil — who had been sitting near her — fell off of her chair in surprise. "Gah!" she exclaimed. "Test Tube, she's awake!"
GB didn't relax upon hearing the woodsicle's voice. Instead, she darted her eyes around the surroundings, trying to absorb every little detail. She was in a bedroom with gray wallpaper, lying on top of a nondescript bed. A few feet away, Pencil (who, for some reason, was wearing Lollipop's scarf) was pulling herself to her feet using a wooden chair. There was a window on one wall, and a single small desk with a lamp next to the bed's headrest, but the room was otherwise empty.
Footsteps could be heard. Both girls in the room turned to see a battered Test Tube rush through the doorway, with Pie lazily following a second later. "Geebs! Thank goodness you're awake. How do you feel?"
"I..." Golf Ball blinked slowly. "Why... why are we in my house?" Indeed, she had almost instantly recognized the bedroom as the one that she slept in during her four-year stay in Yoyle City. Once the Firey Speaker Box had decided they'd all be staying there for the remainder of BFDIA, she and Tennis Ball picked the house from the town's outskirts after their first choice was obliterated by the Eiffel Tower.
Pie raised a finger. "We carried you here last night, since we figured the museum would be a bad place for you to wake up in. Pencil still remembered where you used to live."
"Right. The... museum. I... remember going there, and we found that secret passageway, but after, I-" The sports ball halted abruptly upon suddenly registering Test Tube's injuries. The glass container's rim was majorly cracked, she was wearing a large bandage over her face, and even more of her liquid was gone. "Oh my factory!" she gasped, horrified. "Test Tube, y-your eye! What hap-"
"Hey, hey, don't freak! I'm fine!" TT raised her hands to stop her friend from panicking. "The glass underneath my eye is cracked, so I just can't open it until that heals. And if it doesn't... well, there's always recovery."
Despite TT's objections, Golf Ball still tried lifting her right hand to lightly touch the eye patch — until she realized she no longer had a right hand. The globule froze, staring at her handless mechanical arm. "What... where... where is my hand?" Experimentally, she lifted her left arm to compare the double lack of hands, only to find that it, too, had drastically changed; there was now a large copper lance attached to it. "Um."
The other three girls exchanged concerned glances. "...something happened last night that you should know about."
Black Hole floated over to where Four was standing, feeling each and every drop of rain that was unfortunate enough to fall near him get caught in his gravitational pull and disappear. "You called?" he spoke, gently vibrating as he did so.
