I ran down the hall as the bell began to ring for the start of class. I rounded the corner into the room and sighed as I walked over to my seat and sat down. The teacher glared at me over his thick black framed glasses that he apparently thought was cool.
"Close call Ms. Carroll... Watch out you're not late..." he warned me with a smile.
I knew he was just being nice but the thought of being late scared the life out of me! I was never late EVER!
"I will. Thanks!"
I looked across the room at my best friend, Samantha, Sammy for short, and made a face of relief. She then started to laugh and made a face back at me. When Mr. Kitchel started to talk about our last test, I turned back around to listen.
After class I gathered up my books and started for the door when my friend ran up to me and started telling me about what her and her boyfriend did over the weekend. I didn't really mind, I liked to hear that she was happy with him and it was the first boyfriend of hers I approved of. She always seemed to pick out some mental druggie or something. But this one was a keeper. His name was Charlie and he was really sweet and smart and seemed to love her so much.
"It was so sweet, he took me out to this nice restaurant downtown then after we went ice skating and he held my hand the whole time! And..." she trailed off and looked over my shoulder then smiled. I turned around to see that one of the boys in my history class had come up behind me and was standing there awkwardly, not knowing what to do next.
I turned partially so that he was included in our circle. I never had really talked to him before but I knew his name was Niall Horan. A lot of kids made jokes about him because he was quiet and didn't have many friends. As I looked at him closer, I wondered why he got picked on so much. He wasn't fat or ugly or anything like that, he was actually really cute. He had these piercing blue eyes and blond hair that hung over his forehead slightly. I had seen him laughing with his friends a few times before and he had a really nice smile. I know he was self conscious about it, though, because his teeth were crooked. His laugh was addicting too. He puts everything into it and just cracks up at the slightest thing. It made you want to laugh right along with him, no matter what was funny!
"Hey!" I said smiling at him. He let out a sigh of relief and smiled at me.
"Hi!" he responded.
"Well I'm going to go down to lunch now... Bye Lulu."
"See ya down there!" I said.
My name was really Lucy but everybody called me Lulu. I turned back to Niall and smiled at him.
"So what do you need?" I asked politely
"Well... erm... I was.... um... wondering if... if you... maybe were free this weekend?" he looked down at his feet and blushed while he asked me this.
I smiled even bigger. He was so adorable but he didn't seem to realize it.
"Ya I'm free, got anything in mind?"
He seemed to gain more confidence now that he saw I was interested in actually going out with him.
"Well Le Miserable is in theaters now, I was wondering if you might want to go see that with me Saturday night."
"Oh my gosh! I've been wanting to go see that for a few weeks now! That'd be great, Niall!" I jumped a bit I was so excited! I love Le Mis and all the actors that are in it but I could never seem to find the time to go see it. "So what time do you think on Saturday?"
"Well there's a showing at 7:10 I thought would be nice." he smiled back at me with complete joy that I had accepted his invitation. I knew he didn't date much but neither did I so I guess we were perfect for each other!
"That sounds great, Niall!" he looked surprised when I said his name. Like he didn't think I actually knew who he was. I may not know everyone personally but our school is pretty small so I know names and a bit about everyone. Especially kids I had class with.
"Do you want me to pick you up around 6:00? We can go get something to eat before the movie."
"Sure!! I love food! Speaking of food... We should go to lunch, I'm starving!"
"Sounds good to me!"
