Shoutout to my girlfriend before I start. I had totally forgotten about my story because of exams. She just reminded me. I'll try to upload on time the next time round.Catalina’s POV
A week later, I was walking with my friends again.
“I’ll catch up with you guys later, okay?” I say, smiling at Sarah and Emily. They threw me a stink eye, and immediately tried to cover it up. I pretended not to notice it, before waving them off, and walking up to Lennox.
He hadn’t seemed to notice me approaching, a frown on his face, like he was contemplating something. He was wearing a white button-down T-shirt over faded jeans.
I pat him on the shoulder. “Hey! Glasses!” I say, smiling. He groans and turns around, raising an eyebrow at me. A strand of dark hair lay over his forehead, and he had those reading glasses over his eyes again. “What, Alina?” he asked. “That’s not very nice.” I say, feigning hurt.
“Well, maybe I’m not a nice person.” He said. I smile. “What do you want from me?” he asked.
“Do you want to hang out today?”
I immediately wished I could take the words back.
He raised an eyebrow, closing his locker with a slight clang.
“No.” He said finally. I furrowed my eyebrows, feeling the blush starting to color my cheeks.
“No?” I repeated.
“No.” he confirmed, before turning away, leaving me feeling embarrassed in the corridor.

“Why were you talking to him in the first place?” shrieked Sarah. We were in the girl’s washroom, in the middle of a class.
“Is it really any of your business, Sarah?” I ask coldly.
She gulped, and I observed her through the mirror I was standing in front of. “I just- he doesn’t seem like your type.” I let her stumble over her words, swiping the wand of mascara over my blonde lashes.
“Like, you know Mason? You should see the way he looks at you.” She said dreamily.
“Yeah, I know. Like he wants to see me naked.” I say bluntly. She opened and closed her mouth, blinking. “Not that I can blame him.” I smirk, flipping a blonde lock of hair behind my shoulder. “I am pretty amazing.”
It was hard to differentiate at this point whether I actually meant it when I complimented myself, or was doing it as a defense mechanism. My ego was still feeling a little damaged at Lennox’s rejection in the hallway today.
“I need to get laid.” I say out of nowhere. Sarah doesn’t seem fazed by it, leaning against the door of a bathroom cubicle. “There’s a party at Mason’s on Friday. You can carpool with me and the girls. Wear something hot.”
“Don’t I always.” I smile
I shrug. “I don’t know, maybe I’ll just come with Naina. She hasn’t been to a party in ages. She could be a plus one.” I say. “You could just ask any of the football team, Catalina. They’ll all die to come with you.” She said.
I looked at myself in the mirror.
“But seriously, why would you bring that… freak with you? She’s a junior.”
They really need to come up with more insulting names.
