Brother- Falling In Reverse

"He was a great man, everyone loved him..." My mind wanders from the words the man continues to spill out of his mouth. They're rehearsed and practiced, they mean nothing to him. It's his job, he has to say these things just so the rest of us have a little bit of hope left in our hearts.

Not me, though. I know that hope is lost in this situation, especially for me. It's my fault that he's gone. I didn't mean for any of this to happen, never did I mean to hurt him like I did that night.

(*Flashback*)

'Hey, party at Ben's house. You coming?' -Jordan

'Yeah, sound sick. Be there in a bit.'- Ron

I set my phone down on my bed and walk over to the mirror, checking over my outfit once more before grabbing my phone and opening my door. My eyes meet with those of my 16 year old little annoying brat of a brother.

"What do you want, Anthony?"

"I-I was wondering if y-you had time t-to talk..?" I could see he was hesitant, but I pushed it off.

"I'm busy."

"P-Please... I just-" I cut him off.

"No, you annoying little shit. I said I was fucking busy. That's it. I don't have time for your annoying shit right now, I'm leaving." I hiss out at him before pushing past him.

*Later that night*

"Ron, that chick has been starring at you all night. Just go talk to her.."

"Naw, Jordan, she's not my type."

"Then what is your type?"

I open my mouth to continue our conversation, but I'm cut off by an annoying buzz in my back pocket. I take out my phone, and roll my eyes. "Hey dude, I'll be back, it's my mom."

I take my phone outside, and accept the call.

"Yeah, what do ya want.. I'm busy right now.."

"Y-your brot-ther...h-h-he" I hear her weary and shaken voice crack.

"What?"

"H-He's in t-the hospi-" I didn't even need her to finish her sentence.

"I'm on my way.."

(*Present Time*)

Maybe if I hadn't have blown him off like that, maybe he would still be here. I was just so caught up in my own self.. I didn't think about him.

I never even knew what he was going through, I never bothered to listen to what he had to say. I wish I would have listened... It's all my fault.

"... May he Rest In Peace in the heavens above for the rest of eternity...Now let's have the family say a few words." I finally start to listen. I look to my mother, but she's crying to hard into my fathers shoulder to speak, so I step forwards.

"... Brother why'd you have to go? You left us all so soon... I'm sorry I didn't listen to you, I'm sorry I wasn't there for you. The hurt won't go away, the pain gets worse... it never stops. I've asked the lord for us to swap, I beg and plead.. Why did you have to leave? Why did you have to die? And now I thought it through, maybe if I answered you that you would still be here all along. No more laughs. No more hugs. Your soul is free, I love you Anthony..."

I feel a single droplet hit my face, then another, and another. Soon theres enough to cover the fact that I'm crying. I zone out once again as one by one everyone else says what they feel is needed.

Slowly, but soundly, the coffin is now being lowered into the ground now. My head falls in shame, anger, guilt. I feel a hand on my shoulder, I look back to see the saddened eyes of my father. Even through the rain, I can tell he's crying too. "Come on, we need to go, bud."

"Just one more minute.." My head drops back to the coffin.

"You're going to need this, then." He hands me what I suppose is an umbrella, but I don't bother to use it. The rain let's me know and feel what's actually going on.

I can still picture his face smiling and laughing... I can't even begin to understand why he did this to himself. I decide the pain is growing too strong to stay, I say my final words before leaving his grave side.

"You finally made your brother cry..."

A/N- This story theme and plot were all based from the song 'Brother by Falling In Reverse'

The song really inspired this piece so please don't hate it because it's not really along the fan fiction theme I had going on. Now please
