Chapter 4 : The Puppy

I played all through the early morning. Remembering the boy...Lee...I wonder how he was doing. That Sand Genin with red hair..Gaara is what Naruto called him...something about him seemed off and....sad...very sad.

I heard a light tap. "Where you up all night?" I looked to see Pineapple. "I heard you playing last night and this morning." I nodded and gestured to around me. He snorted. "No wonder Asuma-Sensei is late." He shook his head and sat down next to me since Kakashi rolled over onto his right side.

"Who is that guy?" I saw him pointing to Papa. I pointed to my markings and he hummed. "Dad?" I nodded and kept playing.

"Hey...um...what you did for Lee.... .....thanks." I nodded and slowly stopped playing the song. I heard shouting in the distance and sighed. "Already in a fight...what a drag." Pineapple frowned.

Hands grabbed me and I swung my arm out. Pineapple dodged, making me hit the person behind me. I heard an 'oof' sound as I lost my footing on the slightly slanted roof. I started sliding towards the edge. "Sota!" Pineapple yelled and tried to catch me but I slipped off the edge.

My blood froze as I fell past the second floor. I heard shouts from around and above me as I fell in slow motion. I saw pineapple staring at me, terrified as I stared back with equal amount of terror.

I landed in someone's arms and they grunted. I shakily looked up into onyx black eyes. He blinked at me as it went quiet.

"GO SASUKE-KUN!" I jumped out of his arms and immediately looked around terrified. "Milady?" I squeaked and dashed off in a random direction. My heart was erratic and blood rushed through my veins. I heard crashing sounds from nearby buildings.

I turned down a street as Naruto came out of an apartment room. "Pervy-" I jumped away as he appeared next to me. I hit a post and groaned as the corner dug into my arm.

"You ok?" He reached out and I flinched. I looked at him terrified before running off. "W-wait! Let me-" he was cut off as I ran down another road.

I came to a place that had a stream in the middle of the medium sized meadow. I saw a willow tree hanging over it and I jumped onto a branch and curled into myself, cradling my injured right arm to my chest.

I rocked back and forth as I heard the village live start to come alive with smaller children back in the main part of the village. I could hear shouting from many people. I could hear shops bells as the door was opened. Wagons creaking as they were pulled. The wheels groaning because they hasn't been oiled or cleaned in a while. The clacking of sandals and the smell of fresh baked bread.

"Arf!" I jumped and whipped my head to the neighboring branch to see a white dog with brown on its ears, and brown diamond shapes on his legs, wagging its tail at me. I stared at him and he, I believe it was a he, stared right back at me.

I watched him jump next to me and I jumped, falling out of the tree. I landed on the hard ground and the puppy whined, joining me on the ground. I shied away from him, holding my right shoulder.

I remember a few months back, I was in the Snow village and a couple of dogs jumped me. Tsunade-sama healed me but it still hurts when I'm around any type of dog.

The puppy sat on its hind legs and tilted his head at me. I stared at him, confused. Why was he not attacking me? It was strange...

I watched him creep closer slowly but surely. I stayed stiff as he moved. When he was an inch or so away from me, he extended his head towards my left elbow. I flinched as his mouth opened but only to feel a warm tongue lick me. I blinked back at him and watched him keep licking me.
