A loud ping sounded, echoing off the plush, expensive walls in the Bishop penthouse, as William's back pocket buzzed, sending vibrations through his body.
He quickly excused himself, getting up and walking to a different part of the home, away from prying eyes, pretending to use his walking cane to navigate and pulled out his phone, already missing Kate's warmth.
The screen turned on, sending a glaring blue light on his face, and he stared at the notification. His algorithm had worked, and returned the true identity of the CEO of Sloan Limited.
Jack Duquesne.
So Kate was right.
Moments later, he felt a soft hand on his back, and knew it was Kate.
"What's up?", she questioned curiously.
Without answering, he just showed her his phone, the image of Jack plastered on it.
Her face paled, and her mouth went dry. Her breathing was erratic and shaky, eyes darting around the room. Her stomach constricted, causing pain to shoot across her body.
A murderer, was just a few feet away from them, and her mother was trapped in his clutches, vulnerable.
Seeing her state, William immediately went to comfort her, a sense of protectiveness overcoming his senses. He cupped her face, forcing her oceanic, blueberry shaded orbs to stare into his Whiskey ones.
"Hey. Hey, Kate. I need you to calm down alright?", he said gently, his thumbs rubbing across her cheeks in a comforting manner.
"B-bu-but I.....Ja- he........ my mom she's-"
"We'll fix it alright. We'll put Jack behind bars."
"But we don't know what he can do. I mean what if he-", she whispered, as a few stray tears escaped her eyes. Fear and uneasiness were the only things shrouding her mind, as her ears started to ring, lips turning sickly pale, and white like snow. She felt like she was going to throw up, as spots appeared in her vision, her body stumbling around, as she started to lose her balance.
She had never experienced real danger like this, and it was starting to overwhelm her now, as she faced a panic attack.
Not knowing what else to do, the vampire quickly wrapped his arms around her, and pulled her into an embrace.
After a few moments her shock wore off, and she quickly wrapped her own arms around him, and buried her face in the crook of his neck, breathing in his lavender like scent, which provided her with easement.
"Shh. It'll all be fine I promise.", the whiskey-eyed vigilante whispered comfortingly in her ear, while running his hand through her hair, which she responded to by tightening her arms, and pushing herself closer to him, if that was even possible. Her eyes were squeezed, while she refused to let go of his warm embrace.
