"Hi and welcome to Euphorics" she says while still looking at the screen. The old and slow system refuses to shoot the order to the kitchen unless you press enter a dozen times.

After a dramatic second, she finally looks up and asks "What can I get for you today?". But she is not prepared for the mesmerizing eyes that met her gaze.

He was not the first good looking customer to walk into the café. The studios nearby was teaming with actors, singers and celebrate who were almost always traditionally good looking. But something about his eyes was different.

"Hi. I'd like an Iced Anericano and a box of Butter Cookies. And could you get him a chunky slice of Pepperoni and Pineapple Pizza? He likes it thick." she could swear the last line was a pun but she had no idea if it was meant for her or his friends. She assume they are friends but it's the first time she is seeing them and has no idea about who they are.

The regulars have come to know her as much as she knows them and a lot of them enjoy the small talk so she engages everyone in small conversations to make them feel at ease. It's her way of making their experience a little more joyful. Of course some customers don't appreciate it and she makes sure to not push her chatter on everyone.

"Of course. Anything else? Some water? Cold, room temperature or just tap water?"

"Tap is fine." he said, looking away for a second while he pulls out his wallet. She can finally breadth deeply while his piercing gaze is not on her. It's not intimidating or stressful but just nerve-wracking in a not-so obvious kind of way.

As he slid out a Black Card from his wallet, she pulls the POS Machine closer to her and takes a deep breadth. But soon her breadth hitched thinking he might find it offensive. What is he thought she huffed at the display of wealth and power while she is slumming out behind the counter?

FOCUS.

HE IS NOT HERE FOR YOU.

HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW YOU EXIST.

I MEAN TECHNICALLY HE DOES RIGHT NOW BUT HE WILL FORGET YOU THE MOMENT HE WALKS OUT.

HE IS HERE FOR COFFEE AND SOME SNACKS.

FOCUS FOCUS.

AND STOP FIDGETING.

DON'T DROP THE CARD.

YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO GET A SCRATCH ON THIS THING.

I WONDER WHAT IT COSTS TO REPLACE THEM IF THEY GET DAMAGED OR LOST OUT WHATEVER.

Her inner thoughts keep her company as she pulls out the receipt and hands it over to him with the card. And soon he is walking away with a polite smile and raised brows. Did he have to do that, she wonders, but he looked so cute that she almost forgets her job is not over for the day.

And soon the next customer is tapping his nails impatiently, waiting for her to take his order.

...

"Should I go or do you want to take it to him?" asks the other staff behind the counter, pointing at the order that is now ready and waiting at the pick-up table. People usually come and collect their food and drinks when their order number is announced but when there's no rush, the staff goes the extra mile to serve the customers. It's one of the reasons people like this little old place over the luxurious chain stores. That and the fact that this place is rarely too full to get a table. Everyone who isn't that important is too busy clicking pictures from the fancier place across the street with drinks that cost more than her weekly paycheck.

"I'll go. Unless you want to."

"Judging by the way he is sitting with that dude, you have a better shot than I do."
