"You look tense."
"Of course I am! Y/n hasn't shown up yet!" Camilo leaned against a wall. "No way they'd miss out on this... if they did they'd at least tell me."
"Oh, right. They said they wouldn't come." Carlos spoke while he chewed on the hotdog, licking whatever sauce was on the tips of his fingers. "They're busy parenting."
Camilo looked at his twin brother. He was confused, he was concerned, and just a little bit jealous. "Y/n? Spoke to... you?"
"Mhm," Carlos seemed to be enjoying his food. He didn't even spare Camilo a glance, he was completely fixated on the food in his hands, completely unfazed.
"There's no way they'll talk to you and not me." Camilo turned his entire body to face him. "When was this?"
Carlos paused, finishing up with the food in his mouth before speaking. "Earlier this afternoon. They told me that they'd be busy and they can't make it." He still didn't spare him a glance.
"They told you and yet... you didn't think of telling me?"
Carlos took another bite of his food, shrugging, "I forgot." Did he though? No, he didn't forget. He doesn't forget that easily.
Then why didn't he tell him?
Simple.
He didn't feel like it.
Camilo knew that. He knew that Carlos wouldn't forget something like that so easily. But he brushed it off as an 'I just wanted to spite you' moment since he did that way too often. Either way, he was bummed out. Camilo was beyond excited to see you. He wanted stand beside you as his younger brother walked to the candle to receive his gift. Maybe he'd even dance with you if you were.
"Camilo! We need help over here!"
The boy groaned as Abuela called his name, "coming!" He thought that maybe he could have a break because it was a party tonight, but nope. The life of a Madrigal.
"Go play with the other kids! Just don't leave Casita, okay?" You walked into the house and watched as your siblings ran to the other kids. Anita immediately ran to Isabela while Ivan thought he could beat Luisa to an arm-wrestling match. Azul? That kid is going places. You don't know where, but they are going places.
You tried to look for your favourite boy, yet he was still nowhere to be found. You sighed, leaning against the stair's railings and making a bit of small talk with whoever approached you.
Everyone was so kind. Just because you looked the slightest bit lonely, people would approach you and make sure you were having fun; even if they weren't hosting the party.
Carlos didn't like parties. He was bored and he felt like he didn't serve a purpose. He would've stayed in his room if it wasn't for his younger brother's ceremony. Despite his cold nature and attitude, he still had love somewhere in his heart for his family. The least he could do was show up. Even if his time was spent leaning against a wall with his arms crossed.
He watched everything from his spot. He didn't want to dance, he didn't want anything other than the food. People were kind, yet they had enough common sense to know that they shouldn't approach Carlos when held alone. Who knows what that boy is thinking about.
Currently, it was you.
He still believed you wouldn't show up due to previous conversations. When he lifted his gaze from the floor, he looked straight ahead of himself and saw you. What a pleasant surprise.
