*Few days after Marcus left his kingdom*

*Lilah POV*

My lady-in-waiting was helping me out by picking out a dress or two. I looked through my huge closet and picked out a dark blue skinny dress then passed it towards Madie gesturing if this was good enough for the upcoming ball today. Madie was my Lady-In-Waiting till I married Duke in a year and a half. She was my only friend, She would help me in tuff times and would be by my side always.

"What about this one?" Madie took the dress out of my hands then held it out of her. She had some happiness and some disgust in her hazel eyes.

"Do you have anything else like this but a lighter blue?" Madie folded the dark blue dress onto a neat pile on top of my bed, The dresses made my bed indented a bit. There are sure a lot of dresses but it's fine. I turned back into the closet going through all the formal wear. I came across a light blue dress with dark blue jewelry leaves and some at the waist.

"That's such a pretty dress. You should wear this to the ball." Madie came butting in touching the dress from top to bottom.

"This was my mother's dress. But why is it in my closet?" My mother died from heart disease, I was a little girl turning 11 years old when she died. Madie grabbed the dress and flipped it backward.

"There's a tapped note on the back of the dress." Madie pointed to a white envelope taped on the collar. I ripped it off, opening it slowly not to make it rip. I pulled out a white piece of paper.

For my beloved daughter.

When I was going through the pain from the heart I placed this dress in the back of your closet hoping you'll find it during a future ball or your future wedding when you're older. I placed the dress in your closet because I want something for you to be reminded of the times I've spent with you and your father and the past of our great ancestors. The dress comes from many generations down to the present day. The first woman wore this when there was a war dividing two kingdoms to set off on their own (Blindhaven and Mythmouth). She represented power and leadership. I wish I could see the woman you have become and would say that you have the genes of our great ancestors. When one of your future daughters has the traits of being a queen, pass this dress on like when my parents saw those traits in me.

I love you and your father so much! I wish I was still here to watch you grow up but life isn't fair sometimes. Just letting you know that don't forget me or your father. We both love you so so so much! Take care of your father and Madie for me.

Love, Mom

I read the last sentence out loud for Madie. She remembered that I loved it when she would tell me stories about our great ancestors and what they did. Tears were running down my cheek. I miss her so much. Father is severely sick and can not get out of bed so I'm the one that keeps the kingdom up and going.

"I know how you feel. She was like my own mother." Madie was abandoned and was dropped off in front of the castle gates when she was still not able to walk. My mother saw her while I and her were taking our daily walk around the kingdom. She took her in as her second daughter, she is kinda like my younger sister. The door slammed open pulling my thoughts away.
