A lone man sat on a throne, slumped over in a fashion that one would normally associate with a young boy, bored out of his mind. Or perhaps even a teenager who was thinking long and hard about something and in the process had gotten tired of sitting up straight. But this was a man and a king. Thankfully, there was no one around at the time to witness what he thought was a rather embarrassing posture for royalty. It was just him, sitting alone in the throne room of his castle. The complaints had stopped for the day, and he had been given a quick break before he was set to welcome a new family that had just moved into the kingdom.
The man let out a long sigh and changed his position, now leaning back on the throne, his back still slouched. He reached down into one of the pockets of his trousers and pulled out a piece of parchment that had been folded over a few times. He opened it and a small smile formed on his lips when he saw his name written at the top of the letter.
Ansfrid, my dear brother
I am sorry to hear about you and Kristen. I thought that you two had gotten past what had occurred in the forest, but apparently, I was mistaken. Unfortunately, I can't think of anything that would lessen the pain for you. Olaf has arrived safely and has been spending most of his time with Bruni. I wish I could be there to help you, but I'm sure that you are managing well.
Remember that Mother, Father, and I will always love you and you are always in our hearts, though we may not be there.
Lots of love, Elsa
Ansfrid ran his hand over the elegant scrawl of his sister's hand, wishing silently that she was here to help guide him in his daily chores as monarch. Kristen and Olaf had been his support until recently, and with both of them gone, he was struggling to remain his usual optimistic self.
Though Olaf has simply left to spend some time with Elsa in the Enchanted Forest, Kristen and Sven had left on a more permanent basis and wouldn't be returning to Arendelle any time soon. Hurtful words had been said both by Kristen and Ansfrid, which had resulted in the woman storming out of the castle, throwing down the ring that Ansfrid had proposed to her with, and ordering Sven to leave the kingdom. All that Ansfrid had been able to hear was that they were heading to a kingdom further south and would be taking the first ship away. He hadn't chased after them, though now he wondered if he should have.

"You don't know what it's like to have to run a kingdom," Ansfrid yelled at Kristen. They were standing in the throne room, Ansfrid standing in front of the throne while Kristen was standing closer to the door.
"Well I know that you're doing a really bad job of it," Kristen yelled back. "You should have promised that lady that you would have helped her!"
"I wasn't sure if I could keep a promise like that! I would have to leave the kingdom for a week!"
"Is that the worst thing?" Kristen was nearly ripping her hair out now due to the frustration bubbling beneath the surface. "Pabbie was able to take care of everyone when we went to go help Elsa! He could do it again!"
"I can't leave my kingdom to him again! That's asking too much of him."
"No. You're just scared because of what happened last time we left Arendelle. You're just scared that you could come back and find Arendelle suffering yet again or nearly destroyed! Ask your advisor to take care of it for you!"
"I promised that he could go and have some time off. You just want me to stop being king for a week so that you and I can rest!"
"And is it bad if I care about you!? Elsa never should have made you king, Ansfrid!"
