The Awakening

Chapter 5:

The snowcat braked. Carmen apprehensively climbed out of the snowcat and hurried over to the fresh site of mutilation.

"WHAT DID YOU DO"

"Nothing, I found her like this"

"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO?

Carmen was overwhelmed with stress and fear and put two and two together. She got violent, Pulled out her survival knife and stabbed him in the shoulder. David screamed out in pain and punched Carmen in the face without thought . She recoiled in pain and fell to the floor. Pupils dilated, his blood filled with adrenaline, David sat on her chest and bloodied her face with his fists. He wasn't in control anymore. Pure instinct controlled him like a puppeteer does his puppet. He couldn't stop. The sound of his fist slamming against her teeth and skin became louder and louder and soon it was the only thing he could hear. CRUNCH. CRUNCH. The sharp crunches of her bones breaking turned to awkward splats of his fist smacking a collection of blood and bone. It wasn't enough. "An eye for an eye you bitch" David thought. He took the knife out his shoulder and started uncontrollably hacking at her chest. Blood spilled out and covered her face and David's hands. A part of him was disgusted and terrified. Maybe that part of him was what went to antarctica. But that part wasn't in control. An evil, demented and violence obsessed part of him was. A part of him that developed within weeks. Every single drop of blood that warmed his skin made him stronger and angrier. He finally stopped, stood up and exhaled. He looked down at the scene; it was horrifying. Sam's corpse laid disemboweled like a chicken in a crude butcher and Carmen's disfigured and caved in face. The only things he could hear was the sound of the wind and gurgling of the blood in Carmen's throat from her breathing. It stopped. She died. He turned back to the snowcat and drove.
