☆He could be so stubborn sometimes.
-
"You're going to get cold," you told him, but Bill insisted that he didn't need to bring his jacket.
-
"Wearing a meat suit or not, I'm not gonna be put off by a little wind like some wimpy human," he said, "Er... no offence, human."
-
☆Now here he was, five minutes into your walk, still trying to hide the fact he was freezing.
-
You snickered at his shivering, waiting for that moment he would have to admit it.
-
☆"The sun's setting," you said, "If we don't get to the museum soon, it's gonna be closed."
-
He never told you why he wanted to go so badly, but going seemed important to him, so you went along.
-
"I know," he said, looking a bit down, and a bit cold.
-
☆Bill shivered again.
-
"You're sure you're not chilly," you asked him.
-
He laughed nervously, then stuttered with his teeth chattering, "What? N-no! Me? I'm not- It's-s not that bad! I m-mean, I mean if you are- Ha, ha... Humans are j-just weak to temperat-ture! I-I'm not s-so vulnerable!"
-
You raised an eyebrow. "Mhm."
-
☆Bill scowled at you, secretly knowing you were right.
-
You giggled as the two of you turned a corner.
-
☆As funny as it was, you were starting to worry.
-
You wanted to help him, but he wouldn't admit that he needed it, so you asked him, "Do you want a hug for no particular reason?"
-
He glanced to the side, his arms folded together, then scrunched his head into his shoulder and mumbled, "...Yes."
-
☆You wrapped your arms around his shaking vessel, and he leaned into you, softly.
-
Bill tucked his arms under your flannel jacket, and you continued to walk with him clung to your side.
-
His body was still shivering, but he seemed a bit warmer now.
-
☆After a few more blocks, the two of you were at the doors of the museum.
-
Bill's smile faded when he saw the sign on the door and the lights all turned off.
-
"We can always come back tomorrow," you told him, "There's a park across the street. Why don't we sit down a while before we head back."
-
☆"...No," he mummbled into your jacket.
-
"Why not," you whined, "My feet are tired."
-
He mummbeled again, "I... I don't wanna."
-
☆You already knew, but you wanted to hear him say it. "And why is that?"
-
He let out a long sigh, then muttered something inaudable.
-
"What was that," you said with a smile.
-
He muttered it a little louder, but still fairly quiet, "Bcs m cld."
-
"No, no," you said, "I couldn't quite hear you."
-
☆Bill clung to you tightly and shouted, "Because I'm cold, okay! You were right!"
-
"That's what I thought," you responded, "It's okay, I've got you."
-
☆He pulled off, rubbing his arms while you pulled off your flannel and wrapped it around his shoulders.
-
You felt your own arms, slightly warmer than his since you were in long sleaves and he wasn't.
-
"Thank you, human," he said, putting his arms into the flannel sleaves.
-
☆"Wanna go to the park now," you asked him.
-
He nodded, grabbing your hand.
-
☆Both of you raced across the street with your hands folded together, and sat down on the grass.
-
"I like looking at stars," you said.
-
"Me too," he replied, "They're very beautiful up close too. Have you ever seen that?"
-
"No," you giggled, "I've never been closer to a star than the sun is to earth. I couldn't survive being much closer.
-
☆He squeezed your hand a little tighter. "Maybe I could take you one day... I could keep you safe..."
-
"I'd like that," you said.
-
☆You leaned your head on Bill's shoulder, a little rough feeling on the flannel.
-
He hesitantly propped his head on yours. He seemed... relaxed, in a way you didn't see him often, and most people didn't see him at all.
-
☆"I take it you know a lot about the universe," you said.
-
"Yeah," he replied, "Your universe and many beyond it... I know your planet has their own zodiac. Which sign is yours?"
-
"(Your sign)," you said, "I'm guessing you don't have one though."
-
"Well," he started, "My existance predates a lot of these stars and I wasn't born on this planet, but... maybe if I calculate it I could figure out which sign I would potentialy have."
-
☆You asked him, "Really? What do you think it is?"
-
"Later," he said, "I'll think about it later... I'm busy right now..."
-
"Busy?"
-
Bill let go of your hand and poked you. "Watching stars with you, ya' dumb-dumb," he laughed.
-
☆You giggled and leaned away slightly while he put his hand over his leg.
-
Bill looked up to the sky and smiled.
-
Your pupils dilated at the sight of him.
-
☆"...You're my favorite human," he said to you. He blushed when he said it, and you were sure you did too."
-
You responded, "I... I like you too, Bill..."
-
☆He turned to face you, his eyes brighter than any of the stars behind him.
-
The moment seemed perfect, didn't it...
-
You leaned slightly closer, slowly closing your eyes and pursing your lips.
-
☆You hesitated, hoping he felt the same way.
-
His hand pressed gently onto your cheek and he closed the gap between your lips and his.
-
☆A spark must've been lit between you.
-
Fireworks must've gone off in the distance.
-
The world must've stopped spinning for just a moment, you were sure of it.
-
Because that's how it felt to you; like the entire multiverse was made for this moment, two sets of lips coming together and joining their two loving hearts.
-
☆The both of you pulled back, looking each other in your starstruck eyes.
-
Bill muttered something that sounded like gibberish to you, "Ti raews I. Namuh ym, ytinrete lla rof uoy evol lliw I, ssentiw ym sa ltoloxA."
-
"What was that," you asked.
-
"N-nothing," he stuttered, "Let's, um, let's head back..."
-
☆You stood up and walked to the sidewalk as he followed you, and began the walk home.
-
You leaned on each other, hands linked in one another as you walked into the distant night, and though you saw it every day, that flannel jacket was never in your possesion again.A/N
