The first time they kissed, it was an accident. It was after the first war, after Sasuke's trials and probation were already long done, and he was almost done with his physical rehabilitation.
It was during one of his check ups with her. His stump was almost completely healed by then, but Sakura would still routinely assess it and clean it (even though it was already scabbing) whenever he went to the hospital to give her updates on his rehabilitation.
That day, she had went over his progress, assuring him that he was basically back to his fitness--just with less an arm, and that he doesn't need any more check ups unless he noticed that something was wrong, and just to continue the exercises on his own.
She had chattered about her day, just as usual, as she went and undid the wrappings in his arm and then checks over the scar. As per usual as well, Sasuke just kept quiet, just watching and listening while she works.
She was just reapplying new gauze and wrappings when he noticed it. There was a sprinkle of blood above her left eyebrow. For a second, Sasuke was worried.
Of course they were shinobis, and Sakura is even a medical nin--the best there is. But even so, his mind just didn't like associating blood with the pink-haired kunoichi.
He had reigned in his worries, however, remembering that Sakura had just told him about the emergency surgery she had done earlier that day. The blood was surely from that.
Sakura continued to work and to talk, but Sasuke was distracted by the dot of blood on her skin.
He hadn't noticed that he'd gradually moved his face closer to hers--which was close to him as it was, with her leaning over his arm, focused on his stump.
He had reached out a hand to her face, and was about to wipe the blood away with his finger, when Sakura had finally noticed his movement and looked up.
It turned out they were even closer than either realized because as Sakura moved, her mouth landed on Sasuke's right cheek, partly over the corner of Sasuke's mouth.
Shinobi they may be, but they both froze, neither knowing what to do for a few moment.
And then Sakura pulled away and started apologizing. But Sasuke, feeling even more embarrassed now, had dismissed her apology and just told her he didn't mind.
Sakura didn't miss the fact that he didn't say it was okay because it was just an accident. He said he didn't mind.
Uchiha Sasuke, who hated people invading his personal space, or people touching him in general, and who had all but announced that he hated romance during the war, had said he didn't mind that Sakura had essentially kissed him.
And in all honesty, Sasuke really didn't. In fact, he had liked it. It had brought back memories from when they were genins and Sakura would always try to cling on to him.
When he left the village, he thought that would never happen again. He thought he'd never have someone, much less Sakura, be that close to him again. So it was... refreshing.
It made his heart pound, his mind blank, his face flush and his feelings all jumbled up, but overall, it really was nice.
When he had left the village again to start his journey of redemption, few weeks after that, he was a little more hopeful for the future.
He knew when he left this time that he has a home to come back to.
...friends who will always welcome him back.
So he made a promise to himself and to her as he poked her head, that he'd be back this time.

The second time they kissed, it was still sort of an accident. At least, it started as an accident.
