"I guess you'll have to share."

Guy groaned in annoyance. What's worse? Seeing his family again or spending a night with Sam where they'd have to share a bed? Not to mention Sam would probably let Mr. Jenkins out of his briefcase.

He thought about it for a minute. Then he decided that two annoyances were better than over ten of them.

"Fine, we'll take the room." He said, rolling his eyes.

"Alrighty then!" Said the man behind the counter, "Just gonna need your names then you can pay for your room."

"Sam! Sam I am!"

"Guy...... am... I..."

The man behind the counter raised his eyebrows.

"Guy? Guy am I?" He said, "Guy! It's me! Chad Bernaki!"

He had a big grin on his face while Guy had an embarrassed frown on his.

"Man it's so great to see you! You know what? Because you work so hard on your inventions, I'm gonna let you two stay for free. You'll need to save your money for that trip to Meepville! I bet your invention will be the best!" Chad said, happily writing their names down in a guest book.

He must've not read the paper because everyone knew that the only inventor who didn't get a ticket to Meepville, was Guy.

"Thanks... Chad." Guy said, "Come on, Sam."

"Thanks for the free stay, Chad!" Sam shouted as he followed Guy to their room.

They opened the door and saw a cozy cabin-like room laid out before them. Sam excitedly ran in and flopped on the soft couch.

"Aw man! This is soooo cool! You know when I was younger my mom and I-"

"Save it."

Sam was stopped before he could tell his story. Guy seemed to be upset, but about what?

They were safe in Stovepipe and didn't have to spend a single bruckle on a hotel room. What could possibly be getting him down? Maybe it was just his usual grumpy attitude, but he seemed more troubled then grouchy.

Guy walked into the bedroom and tossed his suitcase onto the floor. He sat on the bed and grabbed a newspaper from a small stand they hand in the room.

Sam went to get Mr. Jenkins out of the briefcase, but then he didn't. He knew Guy wasn't very fond of the chickeraffe and his mood would only get worse.

He opened the case and Mr. Jenkins popped out. Then Sam put a finger over his mouth.

"Shhhh Mr. Jenkins. You stay here and be good. Your papa isn't feeling too good."

The bird gave a little nod and placed himself gently on the couch. Sam then went into the bedroom to talk to Guy.

He walked in and sat next to the Knox, trying to be as not annoying as possible.

"Hey buddy.... You okay?" He asked.

Guy's face was covered by the paper.

Sam decided to do what he did at the diner when they first met. He gave a small knock on the cover of the paper.

Then, Guy gently lowered the newspaper to reveal his face. His eyes and cheeks were red and tears were streaming down his face.

Sam had never seen him like this. He knew Guy wasn't always in a happy mood, but he was never in a sad mood.

"Guy! What's wrong? What happened?" He asked the Knox frantically.

Sam then turned his head to the paper and saw it. His heart sank.

It was that article again. "Oh the places you won't go".

How dare they shame his best friend like that! He didn't deserve this!

Sam snatched the paper and crumpled it up before throwing it at a wall in anger.

"Guy! Don't listen to those... those.... jerks! They don't understand how awesome you are!" Sam exclaimed.

Guy still had no words. Sam didn't know what to do. He wasn't good with tears.

"Please Guy... I know I'm not your favorite person in the world but...I need you to talk to me."

The Knox looked at his friend and patted beside him. Sam sat back down.

"I just... I just wish I could be happy. I don't know what went wrong.... Why can't my things work? Why can't my life get better?" He said as more tears flooded from his eyes.

Sam, without thinking, wrapped his arms around Guy's waist.

"I'm sorry buddy... I'm so so sorry."

He let go and Guy flopped backwards onto a pillow. Sam did the same.

It was quiet. Even with Mr. Jenkins out of the briefcase. Silence.

Guy then started to get under the covers.

"I'm... I'm gonna go to sleep." He said.

Sam went under after him.

"Mind if I join you?"

"Mmmm..."

Sam shrugged and closed his eyes anyways. He felt a warm hand touch his and opened his eyes. It was Guy's hand.

A big grin went across his face.

"Good night, Guy."
