Jada POV

8 hours later

*knock knock*

Someone knocks on my door before coming in. I jump awake at the sound of the person entering.

"Goodmorning Jada, I just wanted to wake you up to get ready, you wouldn't want to be late on your first day", Ainsley says in a bubbly tone.

"Thank you", I say in a stoic manner as I walk to the bathroom.

I shower and get ready putting on a natural makeup look and get dressed on brown cargo pants with a white crop top and air force 1s.

I grab my backpack and head downstairs to see an unfamiliar sight. My host family together in the dinning room eating breakfast, talking, laughing and enjoying each other's presence.

"Goodmorning sweetie, come eat breakfast", Ann said in a loving tone.

"Um sure", I say as I awkwardly walk to the table and sit.

They continue talking and eating occasionally inviting me into the conversation. I mostly sat there and observed.

It finally came time to go to school. I drive Ainsley to school since she doesn't have a license yet. When we arrived to the school I was surprised to see how big it was. There were different building for different things.

We enter in through the big entrance in the front. Ainsley walks me to the front office to get my schedule and I look over it.

1- AP Literature
2- AP Chemistry
3- BC Calculus
Lunch
4- AP Government
5- Home Economics
6- Engineering Science
7- P.E

My schedule seems alright. I signed up for hard classes but I know I'm smart enough to keep up with them.

The bell rings and everyone in the halls scatter, leaving me and Ainsley together.

"I got special permission to give you a tour of the school", she says as she starts walking.

The tour took about an hour and she showed me the way to all of my classes and by the time we finished the bell rang and all the students started to fill the halls again. Ainsley walks me to my next class which is chemistry.

I enter the class sitting at the very back of the class room. Other students fill up the desks and the teacher walks in after the bell rings.

The teacher begins by talking about some project I had no idea about so I just zone out. Until I hear my name being yelled.

"Miss Jada", the teacher screams.

My head snaps towards her direction.

"Would you please come up here and introduce yourself to the class", she says with a smile.

At this point all eyes are on me. I get up awkwardly from my desk and slowly walk up to the front painfully aware that my classmates were watching.

I clear my throat and start,"Hello, my name is Jada Stewart, I transfered here from New Orleans and I'm 17 years old nice to meet you all".

"Thank you miss Jada head back to your seat please", the teacher says.

I quickly walk back to my seat and try to draw as little attention to myself as possible throughout the class period.

After a long hour of having to listen to Mrs. Johnson talk about covalent bonds the bell finally rang and I wasted no time getting out of there.

I weave my way through the crowded hall trying to get to my next class. Then I accidentally bump into someone, falling unto the floor.

I look up to see who I just bumped. He was a tall guy with black hair and glasses with a white button up and black jeans.

He looked at me wide eyed before stringing together a bunch of apologies.

"I-i am so sorry", the boy say reaching his hand to help me up.

He gathers my things that had fallen on the floor and hands them to me.

"Again I am so sorry", he apologizes.

"Its alright ", I say quickly before walking away.

After about 10 feet I realize that he is following me. I don't make it obvious that I know, and a million scenarios were running through my mind.

What if he is working for the man I'm looking for? What if he's trying to catch me off guard and attack me?

I make my mind up and at the next corner I turn quickly shoving the guy against the wall, pushing my forearm into his neck. He looks terrified.

"Why are you following me", I say in a threatening tone.

"U-u-hh I'm not, I'm just walking to my next class", he say visibly scared.

I hold him there for a second staring directly into his eyes. I've been trained to know when someone was lying and I don't think he is lying.

I slowly let him go and turn around and continue walking.

After a while again I notice that he is still following me but this time I ignore it. The bell rings and I realize at I am tardy.

I walk into the class and a few seconds later the same guy from before walk in also. I then realized that he was in the same class as me and I just attacked him for no reason in the hallway. I mentally face palm myself.

The teacher stops talking as soon as we walk in.

"You must be the new student", he pauses " You're late", he says with a frown.

He then turns to the guy from the hallway.

"And you are also late, detention for the both of you", he says.

"With all do respect sir I'm new so I don't think thats fair seeing as I am not familiar with the rules" , I protest.

He glares at me, "That doesn't excuse you from being late, now stop arguing and sit down".

I quickly find a place to sit resisting the urge to roll my eyes at this man.

The boy sits in diagonal from me and ever so often I quickly glance towards his direction.

I can't believe that I attacked an innocent person.

I feel bad about what happened earlier and even worse I drew unessassary attention to myself.

The more I stare at him the faster my heart beats. I didn't notice before but he is quite attractive.
