"Jordan! Hurry up! You're going to miss the bus!" my mother claims. "Coming!" I say running down the stairs and slinging the front door open.
"Bye love you!" I scream and sprint down the sidewalk. I slow when I see the bus hadn't made it to the bus stop yet. I begin to walk toward my friends. That meant walking past the airhead kids who think they can play ball. I walk toward Brad, my teammate and the catcher on my baseball team.
Before I could even get settled, I felt someone bump into me. I slowly turn around to see a tan girl, olive shaped eyes, and deep brown hair that was braided into two braids pinned on top of her head. She had a yellow button up shirt, and an orange poodle skirt.
She was in the middle of listening with her friend. She couldn't even pay attention! "Sorry", she says. Hm... never thought she'd apologize to me. Her eyes meet mine and she rolls her eyes. "Oh wait, it's you", she said bitterly. Never mind.
Maria Conti was the type of girl who was more less a girl. She was the girl who played baseball, she wore boy clothes outside of school, and she was never as chatty, she talked "mature". It was weird. She was weird.
The only reason I even slightly associate with her is because of my parents. They work with hers, so we always have to go to dinners, and gatherings with them. Other than school, that's the only time she dresses normal. Like a girl.
Now apparently, as my mom says she is just awkward, and I should be her friend. Hell no! I lie about being her friend to my mother. I feel bad about lying to her, but I would feel worse if I were actually Maria's friend! Sorry but I'd rather step on eggshells then talk to her.
"Alright class, let's get settled", Mrs. Amy shushes us. "Today we will be dissecting frogs", She says. The class erupts in cheers, and she smiles. "Now, now!", she says smiling. "I will be putting you in partners". I glance at my friends, and we glance at each other anxiously.
"By that I mean you are not choosing your partners", She claims. Darn! "So, I want you guys to listen up! She lists of names, and she finally got to mine. " Jordan and Kelly", She says. Yes!
Kelly was the hottest girl in school. She had blonde hair, and green eyes. She always wore dresses and regularly looked put together, unlike Maria.
"Hi Jordan!" She says sitting down. I could smell her strong perfume as she sat down next to me. "Hi Kelly!" I say as she scoots her chair closet to mine. Her leg touching mine.
"And last but not least! Maria and Brad", Mrs. Amy says. Maria stands up grabbing her books, and walking to his chair desk which was in front of mine.
As she walked past Kelly giggled and turned toward me. "How weird is she?" Kelly asks me. I look at her, "super weird. Unbearably annoying", Kelly laughs super loud grabbing the attention of everyone. "I know!!!"
"Quiet down please", Mrs. Amy says plopping a frog covered in oil on my desk. With towels below it of course.
"I'm so excited", I hear Maria say putting gloves on before grabbing the frog and placing it stomach side up. I was distracted by Kelly's squeal.
"Ew! This is so gross!" Kelly says grabbing a hold on my arm. "It smells so ba-a-addd", She whines.
I slightly laugh and start cutting it open. "Ew! Miss!!! I can't with this smell!", She whines to Mrs. Amy.
"Maybe it's the mix of the frog and your horrid perfume", Maria taunts turning around laughing. I would admit, the mix of the two smelled pretty bad.
But I wasn't about to turn away an opportunity to do a project with a hot girl. "It's ok", Mrs. Amy says passing out papers we had to fill out.
"Maria at least I don't look like the frog", Kelly says trying to make a comeback. Maria doesn't even glance back at her, making her huff in annoyance.
Once I started cutting open the frog Kelly gagged. "What?" I ask her and she shakes her head. "I can't do this. You'll have to", she says and I shrug. She covers her mouth with her hand and gags.
"Fine", I say and continue.
