"if you put milk before the cereal then you're the one who needs to see a therapist."y/n's giggle echoed in the empty apartment and gojo tried to savor the sweet sound, subconsciously pulling the phone closer so he could hear her laugh a bit clearer.
for the past few minutes, about half an hour, gojo sat talking to y/n on facetime about any and everything that came to the top of their minds or anything they were interested in. it was ironic how freely and open he could speak to her now than when he was in her office earlier today.
"then i guess i will be seeing a therapist. satsified?" she hummed lightly, the phone somewhere on the dashboard of her car as y/n was now heading home from the office.
satoru chuckled and shook his head, staring at the woman through the phone. it was weird but he just couldn't stop.
"are you allowed to talk to your patients like this?" he inquired, trying to gauge every expression on her face.
y/n glanced at him, a slight smile on her glossed lips. "like how? if you mean freely talk to them, then yes. most my patients are my friends as well."
gojo hummed, tapping his finger against his cheek. "so you can be friends with your patients while still treating them?"
"yes satoru, i can still be friends with them while treating them. it does not go against the code of conduct, but i should not be biased in my treatment just because i am friends with them."
y/n paused for a second, as if she were contemplating something before continuing. "i just do not pursue intimate relationships with patients, which includes sexual ones as well."
it was as if satoru was finally coming to this realization but even if he knew it the moment he stepped foot in her office, the information hit him like a ton of bricks, continously slamming into his cranium.
she wasn't allowed to be in a sexual relationship with her patients. moreover, he wasn't allowed to be in a sexual relationship-or any relationship as a matter-of-fact-with her at all.
gojo understood why-it was unprofessional, went against what she stood for and could lead to y/n losing her job, not to mention the status fallout in the entirety of the healthcare field.
nevertheless, it still made his fucking head hurt.
firstly, it meant y/n wasn't 'inviting him to fuck her' with what she said earlier and he was probably just being too fucking horny to fully comprehend that she was simply doing her job.
secondly, her 'no sexual relationship' law was now going to fuck with gojo's conscience for he not once, not twice but three times thought of her in an inappropriate way that went against the entire doctor-patient confidentiality and relationship he was now morally obligated to withhold.
"so..." he cleared his throat, suddenly feeling too hot in his shirt and pants. "what if they.. aren't your patients?"
he was pushing it now, that much was evident.
but, y/n didn't curse him out or shoot him down. instead, she sighed, looking above the phone's camera as honking could be heard in the distance.
gojo figured it was because she was driving which is why she didn't answer him or maybe he caused her to be uncomfortable so he opted to apologize to ease the unbearable silence and obvious tension.
he began, "hey, i'm so-"
"if they are not my patient then my work code does not matter. it would just relate to my private life, far different from work." y/n hummed, slowly glancing at him like she could tell what he was thinking.
