Kirumi Tojo was a hard-worker, plain and simple; It was all she ever wanted to be, she always wanted to be useful to others. She made sure everything was taken care of and did her job well. She never seemed to mess up anything, not even once. That is, until she met Maki. This girl had taken up most of Kirumi's thoughts ever since she first saw her. The first week of living together Kirumi burnt the food she was cooking because she was distracted by Maki talking to Shuichi. She also forgot about chores because she was bringing refreshments to Maki after her workouts with Kaito and Shuichi. She knew that if she wanted to keep her ultimate title, she'd have to do something about this.

Kirumi walked out of her dorm room and into the dining hall. Nobody was there yet, it was still fairly early. She poured herself a glass of water and sat down at the table, bouncing her leg anxiously as she thought. The idea of losing her ultimate terrified her, but she still wanted Maki. She didn't know why she did. She had never really thought about romance, she didn't know if what she was feeling was romantic or not. All she knew was that she wanted Maki to be there. Tears began to prick at her soft green eyes. Lost in her thoughts, she didn't realize that Maki had walked into the dining hall. Maki looked over to see Kirumi, a familiar face in the early morning hours, holding back tears and fidgeting anxiously.

"Tojo?"

Kirumi jumped at the sudden voice, and upon seeing who it was a tear fell down onto her cheek.

"Harukawa-san, I-" Kirumi didn't get a chance to finish as her emotions crashed down on her, tears falling quicker now.

Maki didn't understand why she was crying, but in Kirumi's expression she saw a flash of the face of the girl from the orphanage. Her gaze softened slightly and her eyebrows moved into a more worried position. She leaned down to wipe the tears from her face. Kirumi looked up at her, trembling and leaning into her touch. As the tears began to slowly wash off the makeup surrounding her eyes, Maki could see how tired the girl truly was. She had dark, tired circles under her eyes with a slight purple tint. Maki didn't say anything about them, instead asking,

"Is it alright if I hug you?" Her tone seemed out of place with the tough exterior she presented to others.

Kirumi nodded and accepted a soft, comforting embrace from the girl. Her tears eventually slowed into soft sniffles as Maki tried her hardest to comfort the other girl.

"Are you feeling better?" Maki asked the girl.

"Y-Yes, I'm so sorry to bother you with this. Would you like anything to eat?" Kirumi asked, trying unabatedly to keep up her professional reputation. She slipped out of Maki's grasp and stood up, brushing off her skirt.

"Tojo," Maki said softly. "I'm worried about you. You always work so hard without any breaks, you need rest."

It took everything for Kirumi to not burst into tears at that moment. Maki noticed a small watering of her eyes, sighing softly as she grabbed the other's hands gently. With this small motion, Kirumi's composure completely shattered. She looked up at the other with tears weighing heavy on her tired eyes. Maki pulled the girl into another hug, rubbing softly at her back as she sobbed into her shoulder.

They stayed like that for awhile, embracing each other as Kirumi's face stayed nestled in Maki's neck. After Kirumi calmed down again, Maki beckoned for Kirumi to follow her. She grabbed Kirumi's hand again and began leading her.

"Where are we going?" Kirumi asked mid-walk.

"My lab." Maki responded.

Kirumi was too tired to question why, and she was always curious about her lab, so she continued following her. They got to the door and Maki stopped at the entrance.

"I'll explain about the inside when we go in, don't freak out." Maki said.

"I trust you."

Maki thought that was odd. She had never been told that. She was a very shady person, she was cold and bitter, she had never been told any different. Ignoring her heart lurching at the small praise, Maki unlocked her lab and swung the door open.

The first thing Kirumi saw when she looked in were weapons covering the walls.

"What is-"

"I have two talents, one of them, uh- isn't exactly caregiving."

Kirumi was confused. She sat there for a moment, studying the look on Maki's face. She noticed a slight tinge of worry lacing her every movement as she avoided Kirumi's eyes.

"Alright." Kirumi said.

"Alright?" Maki repeated, looking up at Kirumi with a confused expression.

"Yes. Like I said, I trust you, Harukawa-san."

Maki was surprised at this. Kirumi showed no sense of fear, only slight confusion. She really did trust her, huh? Her conflicted thoughts swirled around in her head for awhile, she was an assassin for god's sake! Why was Kirumi so trusting? She turned over the thought in her head, inspecting every aspect of it for a moment. She almost forgot to say anything but whispered out a response anyways.

"Um- Thanks, Tojo." Maki said softly.

Kirumi chuckled softly at Maki's antics, everything about the girl really was beautiful. Her thoughts continued into little details about Maki, when she was interrupted by her own yawn.

"Oh, Tojo, follow me."

She led her into another room, this one containing many things meant for kids.

"Sorry, it's the only room with a bed." Maki apologized.

"That's quite alright, Harukawa-san. May I ask why you brought me here, instead of my dorm, though?" Kirumi inquired, trying to still sound as sophisticated as possible with how tired she was.

"I figured Ouma would be ringing your doorbell nonstop if he heard you were resting."

Kirumi chuckled, bringing a soft smile to Maki's face.

"A-anyways, here, I have some extra clothes in here you can borrow."

"Thank you, Harukawa-san." Kirumi said, sounding more tired by the second. Maki exited the room for a moment while Kirumi changed into her t-shirt and shorts. A soft voice from the room told Maki it was okay to enter again. Maki walked back in to see Kirumi sitting politely on the twin sized bed. They sat together for awhile, Kirumi's gaze shifting up to Maki's before she broke the silence.

"You're really pretty, Harukawa-san."

Maki choked on a breath she had forgotten to take. Her? Pretty?

"Oh- Sorry, Harukawa-san." Kirumi said, tone laced with slight worry. "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."

"It's fine, I was just... kind of shocked." Maki replied. "People don't usually compliment me like that."

Kirumi gave Maki a warm smile, a genuine one, not the fake one she plastered on to please her classmates. Maki's gaze fluttered up to Kirumi's, her deep red eyes meeting pale green ones.

"You're pretty too, Tojo."

Kirumi nearly cried. She kept looking into Maki's eyes, almost to distract her from the aching feeling in her heart. Maki saw a slight softening in Kirumi's eyes. Maki leaned over to swipe a strand of hair out of Kirumi's face. She smiled at this but yawned suddenly soon after. She cursed her tiredness for ruining this moment.

"Here, you should sleep." Maki suggested, pulling the covers back and allowing Kirumi to slip under. Kirumi laid quietly under the sheets, eyes struggling to stay open. Maki smiled down at her softly as she sat on the bed.

"Alright, I should go to the dining h-" Maki got up and began talking before she was interupted by Kirumi.

"Stay, please." Kirumi was shocked at herself for saying that. Eyes going wide, she stammered out an embarrassed apology.

Maki chuckled quietly, sitting back down on the bed. Kirumi grabbed onto her hand softly, slowly drifting off to sleep. Maki let out a quiet sigh, accepting the fact that she couldn't move her hand without waking up the sleeping girl.

"Silly." she whispered softly, a small smile on her face.
