"So Blue, Tell me what's been bothering you?" Milo said. Milo has been my therapist since I've gotten here. Not exactly overweight but definitely not skinny. If I had to describe him, he's like a ripped fat dude. His hair was short and curly and it always seemed he wore the same black suit every time with the only difference being the color of his tie. Today it was red.
"I-I don't know what's wrong. Everyone says to 'be Happy' but how am I suppose to be happy when I live in a place like this? If you really want me to be happy, then let me go home. The longer I stay here The farther I am from happiness." I said, frustrated, but hopeful I could appeal to Milo's feelings. Milo gave me a look like he was concerned. "Have you been taking your medicine?" Milo said. Just the thought of that shot made me wince. "I have, every morning nurse Sally gives it to me, but when I try to ask her questions about it afterward, she runs out of the room. Can you tell me what's in the medicine?" I responded back.
Milo went silent after I asked that question. His look of concern becoming deeper in his face. "Uhh, Mr. Milo? Is something wrong?". His eyes darted away to look at something behind me, but when they locked back onto mine, His face relaxed and he smiled. "Yes blue I can answer that for you, you see that medicine we give you is what we like to call happy juice. The fact that it hasn't been working on you is a cause of great concern." Milo said. "well it must be some crappy medicine if it doesn't work right." I responded. Milo's smile immediately disappeared. "See here young man, that medicine has helped millions. So if anything is not working it must be on your part." Milo said. I had never seen Mr. Milo respond with such intensity before. I was stunned into silence. When Mr. Milo saw that I wasn't going to say anything, his smile returned but this time, it didn't quite reach his eyes. "I think that's enough for today." Milo said. He called for the nurses to take me back to my room.
Why did he react that way to my question? What is he hiding? If it's suppose to be medicine, why isn't it working on me? These and a myriad other question plagued my thoughts as I walked with one of the nurses back to my room. Will I ever find these answers? Do I even want to...?
