Audible steps could be heard behind me as Violet walked away. I knew exactly whose footsteps they were, and he was the very last person I wanted to see. "Like I said, what the hell are you doing here?!" Dietfried grabbed my shoulder, pushing me back a little as he turned me around to face him.

"I don't understand why you're upset with me. We're all from Leiden, I can't come visit my home, or maybe even come back here?" I asked, glaring at the man before me.

"Every time you come around, you ask about my brother and now you know without asking me," his eyes averted to Claudia. "And you haven't even had the decency to tell Violet, have you?"

"I'm giving her time," Claudia said calmly. "Do you know what the news did to my little sister? Hell, even look at her now."

Dietfried backed down a small bit. "Every time I hear about her, all I see is my brother. And all I need right now is to think about my brother when I have duties to attend to."

"Is being Captain all you care about?" I asked. "Your father made you and Gil- made you and Major addicted to this type of work. Do you not care about peoples feelings?"

"Gilbert didn't want to do this," Dietfried spoke. "The next time I see you we can discuss him. I'm done talking about my brother."

"Then why did you come here? To check on me?" I asked. Dietfried used to be a decent human being until his father started working both boys until they became soldiers.

He scoffed, and turned around.

"(Y/N), let's get you inside," I could hear the frustration in Claudia's voice.

"You know, Gilbert and you should go enjoy today. I'll distract my father," Dietfried smiled. "Our father will have us all day tomorrow (Y/N) and we all won't be able to gather."

I nodded. "Thank you Gilbert! I'll make sure my mother makes enough goodies for me to bring you some," a smile crossed my face.

"(Y/N)?" Claudia put a hand on my shoulder. "What's wrong?" He asked.

I looked down, biting my lip. My breath hitched. "I-.. um," I averted my gaze to different areas of the room. "It's.."

"It's okay to not be okay," Claudia smiled. "God, I've known you haven't been okay since the letter came in the mail."

My hands grabbed my brothers. "It pains me that all I can do is wish that he's still alive. The fact that I can see that inconsiderate douchebag every time he decides to pop up, feels excruciating, like he's trying to hurt me."

"He's worried about you too," Claudia sighed. "Remember, you're like his little sister too."

"Maybe at one time, but not anymore. Not since we were all kids and before they became who they are and were," I closed my eyes.

"I'll look into it," Claudia leaned against his desk.

"Huh?" I didn't understand. "What do you mean?"

"I'll look more into Gilbert's death and see if we can find a body. Maybe then we'll have the proof we need to understand," he grabbed my hands. "I'll do anything you wish me to. You want me to hunt down Gilbert if he's alive? Then so be it."

"You can't be serious Claudia," I looked down at my feet.

"But I am," Claudia smiled. "After Violet gets back from her next job, we'll look into it."
