The day it wasn't

How it all began

It was a gloomy day in east Michigan I was home alone when all of a sudden I hear a car pull up it's my mom she runs inside "Ella! Baby come here please!" She yelled of course I ran to her "yes mom?" I said "grab a few things and get in the car hunny..." she said she sounded upset so I quickly gathered my stuff and we left I never understood why after my mom an me left we went to Florida I still didn't understand but I was scared to ask so I sat in the car while she talked and talked I wasn't paying attention I was completely zoned out after we fully left the house I looked at her "what happened mommy.? I said worried she didn't look at me she just sighed and stayed silent I thought she didn't hear me so I cleared my throat an I said "Mom! What happened.?" This time she didn't ignore me she turned down the radio "hunny..you know your dad works for a important dangerous job right.?" She said shakily "Yeah! He's the greatest police man in town!" I said excitedly she cleared her throat an almost started crying "well hunny last night something bad happened to him so he won't be coming home..."she said an immediately started crying I sat in silence for the rest of the car ride she turned up the radio so we weren't sitting in complete awkward silence after hours we arrived to Florida where her mom and dad lived (Ella's grandparents) they welcomed us an showed me my new room and showed my mom her new room after we got settled in mom went downstairs and told them everything I listened in but never said anything to them about it I just laid in my bed quiet for the rest of the day until grandpa called me down telling me it was dinner time we ate a nice meal an after that I thanked them an ran to my room and fell asleep
