Fox parks at the little diner we have always gone to since we met. Actually, this is where we met for the first time. I work here as a waitress as a part-time job and he happened to be my first customer. I accidentally spilled the coffee he ordered on him, and he asked for my number as payment...cheesy I know.

"Jun you okay?" his voice interrupts my thoughts as I realize I had zoned out for a bit.

"Yeah, sorry just thinking about the first time we met and I spilled that coffee all over you," I say letting out a soft chuckle.

He smirks softly nodding, "Yeah, and that is how I got your number" he snorts softly as he pulls his car keys out of the ignition, opens his door, and jumps down.

I roll my eyes softly as I hop out of his car, shutting the door. Walking around to the driver's side I look up at him with soft eyes "Ready to see who can eat the most mashed potatoes?" I ask as a grin spreads across both of our faces.

"Oh, you know I'm going to win" he chuckles, grabbing my metal hand softly.

My body freezes for a moment, becoming tense from the touch of his hand with mine...or my fake hand. If he knew that I was nervous about him touching the hunk of metal, he didn't show it.

The both of us walk in, hand-in-hand into the small little, but busy diner. Mostly filled with football players, cheerleaders, and truckers stopping in from their long trips for a quick bite to eat. Eventually, we find the others mixed in with a group of people from school. Not my type of social interaction I might say.

Fox tugs my hand softly as he starts heading towards an empty booth at the back. The one where I had spilled the coffee into his lap. Taking a seat, I let my backpack slip off my shoulder, letting it plop onto the inside, letting it lean up against the wall.

"How many orders of mashed potatoes do you want this time you two?" Nancy, my boss, asks as she stands next to the table, holding her little notepad, pen in hand, ready to write down their order.

I look at Fox for a moment before I look up at her and reply, "I will let him tell you that, but I would also like a side of onion rings and mozzarella sticks, please, and thank you" I say smiling big as my stomach growls causing me to blush and Fox to let out a snort.

He leans over towards Nancy, "Make that four plates of mashed potatoes please" he grins, sitting back against the cushion of the bench.

I glare at him before looking over towards the big cheers that came from across from us, seeing my brother and sister having fun..without me as usual..no biggie. Turning my gaze away, focusing on the patterns of the wood markings on the table, I feel a hand grab my real one. I look up seeing Fox with an apologetic expression, which I just shrug it off, and play with the ring on his index finger, twirling it around and around, until Nancy comes back with two cups of iced water. Pulling my hand away, I take a small sip and look to see Fox frowning with his hand still open, palm facing the ceiling, ready for me to hold it again.

I let out a soft chuckle, reaching my hand back over and holding his. His smile becomes bigger, I couldn't help but smile back at him.

"Okay, so I have the four mashed potatoes, onion rings, and the Mozzarella sticks" Nacy's voice interrupts our moment.

I pull my hand away quickly, looking down as my cheeks burn. I probably look like a tomato right now. Fox lets out a little chuckle only that we could hear. I kick his shin softly, lifting my head up hearing a small yelp escape his mouth as he leans over a little to rub where my shoe came in contact with his leg.

Nancy chuckles softly, grinning from ear to ear, "Was I interrupting something..love birds" she says softly setting down the plates across the table.

"No, not at all" I replied picking up an onion ring and taking a bite.

Fox just nods as he starts to eat one of the plates of mashed potatoes smiling softly as Nacy walks off behind the counter to take some orders.

"Why did you kick me?" Fox asks with a pout plastered on his face, which I knew was fake.

"Because you were making me feel embarrassed" I mumble under my breath, putting my head down, and looking at my dirty old shoes.

He lets out a soft sigh. Getting up from his spot he goes up to the counter and asks Nancy something. He comes back to the table standing next to where I am sitting, "Scoot over" he smiles softly.

I scoot over not wanting to argue as I eat more food, already finished the things I had ordered, onto a plate of potatoes.

Fox takes a seat next to me. His knee pressed against mine and his elbow brushes my skin, goosebumps spreading up to my shoulder. Butterflies fill my stomach and my cheeks become warm from the sensation of his skin touching mine. Gives me the urge to reach out and hold his hand, but I refrain from doing so.

"So..uh I want to talk..actually..I want to ask you something" he says nervously rubbing the back of his neck.

I don't think I have ever seen Fox this nervous in the entire existence of our friendship, "What is it?" I ask, taking a sip from my glass of water.

He takes a deep breath, "I wanted to know if you would-" he stops as my younger sister Aleana interrupts him, plopping herself onto the other side of the booth.

As she blabs on about the fun she was having, Fox had become a tomato, and excused himself from the table, heading outside taking his phone out of his jacket pocket. I turn to Aleana trying to catch up on what she was saying about a conversation between some of the football players. I zone back out again thinking of what Fox had wanted to say, or ask me.

My phone buzzes and the screen lights up. I lean over a little to read it seeing it was from Fox.

Fox: "Sorry. Something came up at home."

I text back, "It's okay. Hope everything is okay" I sigh softly as I flip the phone over, sliding down a bit in the booth, looking up at the ceiling, thinking about Fox.
