There sat a man named Ben who had a scruffy beard and wore a red shirt with flowers. He was idly playing with a paddle ball toy when a beeping noise from the laptop caught his attention. Dropping the paddle ball, he moved closer to the computer. The sound of keys clacking filled the room as he typed. Suddenly, a notification chimed in.

"Hey, Jerry, you might wanna check this one out," Ben called out, his eyes widening. "Uh, Palomar just picked it up. Looks like some type of UFO, and it's heading this way..."

Jerry, who had been lounging nearby, sighed and rolled his eyes. Pushing himself across the room on his chair, he muttered, "How many times do I have to tell you this? UFOs don't exist, and we're never gonna see..." He stopped mid-sentence as he saw the signals popping up on the screen. Ben was typing furiously.

"Wow, its energy signature is massive," Ben said, his voice filled with amazement. Jerry, on the other hand, was starting to panic.

"Holy cheez-its! What do we do? No one ever told us what to do. The only reason I took this job is 'cause you never have to do anything!" Jerry rambled, hitting himself upside the head.

"Jerry, stop it. Let me calculate its impact point," Ben said, annoyed but focused. He turned back to the computer and typed quickly. "Looks like... Modesto, California."

Jerry grabbed the red phone next to him and brought it to his ear. "Supernova, this is Red Dwarf. We actually have one! Code Nimoy. I repeat, Code Nimoy!" he cried into the phone, his voice shaking with urgency.

Silence was kept around the house of the owner who slept cozily in bed. Raspy breathing and gurgling sounds emanated from within. Four people reached the door, and one of them turned the knob, making it creak open.

A man wrapped in white covers snored softly, dominating the room's ambiance. As he slowly reached for the lamp and pulled the switch, he began to scream upon seeing three other men, who also screamed like girls. The chubby one pulled out his inhaler and took a puff, the friend on the left, sipping coffee, began shaking, and the last man took out a camera, snapping a picture.

"Men are ridiculous," a feminine voice spoke from behind the guys, causing Steven's eyes to light up instantly. There stood his friend with shoulder-length dark brown hair and brown eyes, who worked at a bakery. "Y/n! What are you guys doing here? It's like five o'clock in the morning," Steven said, rubbing his eyes. "Hurry, turn on the TV. Turn it on now."

"What?" Steven muttered, confused but compliant, flipping through the channels. "That's the channel," Sean, still sipping his coffee, excitedly said. A familiar young woman with short brown hair and bright blue eyes appeared on the screen. "...And some early morning fog, giving way to sunny skies. Seventy-five degrees. A perfect day to stop by the old folk art and craft show down at the fairgrounds, or a perfect day to marry Steven Murphy. I love you, baby," she said happily, looking directly into the camera and making heart shapes with her hands.

"I love you too, babe," Steven said, patting the top of the TV, making the others coo in awe. Y/n rolled her eyes and mentally gagged at the sight, backing away from the others as she walked around the room, distracting herself. She came across an old photo of Steven and her at graduation, with her on his back holding her mortarboard hat. She let out a sad sigh and looked back at the guys.

She knew it was wrong, but she couldn't help feeling sad that her best friend was now getting married to someone he'd only known for a year.

Come on, Y/n, push your feelings aside, she told herself, leaving the house to wait in her black Audi A4.
