Every day from then on for about three weeks i came to him. He gave me everything he promised. Though, of course, he still didn't have my name. One day on my way to the castle i stopped and looked in the window. A hand tapped my shoulder and i spun around. The window gave me a sneak peak at who it was but i didn't think twice about pulling my knife out and holding it to his throat. He let out a small gasp "you really need to stop sneaking up on me. it never works" i said. He moved so the knife wasn't touching his skin "First time i've snuck up on you"
"let's make it the last"
"id rather not"
His eyes bore into my skin making me feel self conscious. "what do you want your kingship?"
He didn't say anything
I grew annoyed"well?"
"your beautiful"
I bit back a laugh. "i know when your lying"
"I'm not lying"
"uh huh, ok. what do you want?"
"i need your help"
I couldn't hold back the laugh. It came out as a snarl but with a sing song type about it. He was a nice enough boy, but with something i knew he wanted. And i sure as hell knew i wasn't about to become it. As the laugh slowed down I looked at him straight in the eye, it was easy as we were almost the same height. "What is it. A cream filled pudding? Oh! how about a few jewels that i can quickly get for you? Or-" he interrupted "do you know how old i am?" i was confused. Me knowing him was a business arrangement only, nothing more. "no, am i supposed to?" he shrugged and went onto the next words "im 16, that is when the king usually gives the crown to his son" i nodded "so?" he took a ragged breath "do you know how to kill?" I felt my heart stop. he wanted me to kill? "you want me to kill...?" He looked at me with a startled expression "NO!" He cleared his throat "i want you to steal the crown. Keep it for a bit so i don't have to get married." I raised an eyebrow "married?" I've known him for three weeks, that's it. But already the adrenaline was coursing through my veins. He nodded "i have to be married to get the crown." i looked deep into his eyes. They almost looked pleading. He looked around him, as if looking to see if someone was spying. "please" i took a deep breath. I was raised to never do anything for free "what do i get?" He looked at the ground " my friendship?" My eyebrows shot up "that is my reward?" He smiled at the ground "as a favor?" I scoffed "so let me get this straight, you want me to steal the crown. risking my life. Just so i can give you a favor? No thank you." he looked up at me "what if i give you money?" Now that was tempting. But i was taught not to let anyone know what you wanted. "when i am king i'll make your life better" He seemed more confident now. I looked over his face "no." I started to turn but he pulled me back "please. whatever you want." Didn't know anyone could get so worked up over getting married. I sighed and rolled my eyes "look. i am doing this because i have nothing else to do" His eye brightened "i also want three favors cashed for later" he nodded "i also want you to come with me" Insurance. Always be ready for the worst. His lips pulled into a smile. "ok. thank you." i looked down at my wrist still in his grasp "you can let go know." He let go. "meet me in the here tomorrow. I'll get a plan ready tonight." He nodded again and turned away. WHAT WAS WRONG WITH ME. I just agreed to steal the crown. I knew i could do it. I could do anything. But the reason i agreed was clear to me. Him. Also the idea of three favors wasn't bad. I knew what id want. Comfort. Something so i wasn't alone every night watching my back. Something that i could feel safe with. I turned around to where i came from. There were plans to be made.
