June 5, 2004.

I remember my arm flying through the wind, 102.7 blasting through the speakers. The smell of downtown filled my little nose. Street vendors selling their hotdogs, bakery's opening their windows to release the fresh scents, life smelt amazing.

Mom watched as the street lights changed, making random turns up and down streets. "Are we there yet?" I ask from the back. "Almost honey". Streets continued to pass, hearing the consistent honking of other cars. "Mommy, I need to go potty." Mom looks through each window "We will find somewhere for you to go, give me minute."

As time felt like it couldn't go slower, mom pulled into parking lot with huge garage doors. She got out of her car and came to open my door. "Go inside and ask to use their bathroom. Be safe, I love you Sage." I yell back going to the big doors "Thanks mommy."

I run into the building and walk up to this large man. "Hi sweetie, my name is Bobby. How can I help you?" he asked, squatting to my level. "My mommy said I can ask to use the potty. I need to go super bad." The man gave me a puzzled look but called over someone else, Hen, and asked them to take me to the bathroom.

I remember the feeling of people watching my every move when I began to leave. Bobby crouched down and in a soothing tone said "Sweetie, nobody is outside..." That wasn't right, mom was right outside and was waiting for me to come back out.

I started to cry for my mom but with no avail she was not coming back.
