When Bojack wakes up in the first episode in the first season we see he hates himself so much over little things like in the "stupid piece of sht" scene, it also seems he's been struggling with this for a long time, as we see Todd he is actually lively for someone who looks miserable despite being kicked out by his own mother in college, and next we see PC (Princess Carolyn) nagging Bojack to drop her off to her home or work because that night she was breaking up with him and he was meant to take her home but yeah, instead he took her to his house to have s3x with her. well, the problem with their relationship was Bojack all this time yet she keeps sticking around with Bojack, after PC went to work (she is Bojack's assistant) she separates her personal life and professional life with her relationship with Bojack. you can imagine the burdens of a in and out relationship with your client, PC had to deal with that for years.
Bojack didn't want to be a forgotten celebrity so he went to a publishing company to write his memorare hoping to be getting the attention of the public by writing about his life, he's having trouble writing the memorare and so the publishing company hired a ghost writer for Bojack to help him write his memorare, Todd throws a mexican party for gang that threatened him to do so, Bojack meets his ghost writer Diane and then they start some small talk, and Bojack starts to like Diane until he found out in shock that she is dating Mr Peanut Butter which Bojack finds annoying and doesn't like Mr Peanut Butter, the next day Diane and Bojack start working on the memorare. Bojack wasn't ready to open up his life to Diane to write about his life but he doesn't wanna open up either because he doesn't want others to know how bad and miserable his childhood was and how shitty his parents were in general, Diane see's and notices Bojack's discomfort and unpreparedness to talk about his life to be written in a book. but eventually he actually did open up about his life later on.
