I hid my face under the covers after I felt the warmth of the sun on my face. I turned the other way to see my brother doing the same. He gave me a goofy smile as he sat up to stretch. I groaned and tried to fall back asleep while I heard my brother's footsteps grow close to me.
"Wake up loser," the blankets were torn off of me as I blindly tried to get them back. "No more sleeping, we have a lake to go to." I shoved my face into my pillow as I recalled what happened last night.
"Nene are you coming?" my brother asked eagerly. I shook my head no, I was too afraid. I barely felt comfortable after seeing the delivery guy, I don't know what I'd do if I saw another person tonight. "That's okay, want to go tomorrow when everyones at work and school? It'll definitely just be you and me, I promise." I smiled.
"That sounds great Leon, thanks." He smiled as he went out the door to our moms car.
I groaned while I got off my bed, I had a small headache from the sun pouring from my window. I sat up and stretched while Leon walked out the room holding clothes. "Today will be a good day, right?" I said to myself as Scott tilted his head at me. I stood up looking for clothes as my dog stood next to me. I looked down and patted his head. "Want to pick clothes out for me instead, this is too stressful." His tail continued to wag as I kept looking.
I walked down the steps to see my brother eating cereal on the counter looking at the back of the box. I got a bowl and sat next to him as he passed me the cereal. I silently thanked him as I watched the sugary filled flakes fall like an avalanche, and then drowned it in milk. We ate silently enjoying eachothers company and had an unspoken race on who could eat faster.
"You only won because you have a big mouth," I groaned. He laughed while taking our dishes to the sink. "What time are we leaving?"
"Around 12, that's when it'll be the warmest." I nodded as I put the milk and cereal away. "It'll still be cold outside, make sure to get your coat.
"Okay mom," I responded to him jokingly. He smiled as he put his coat and gloves on. "Where are you going?"
"Taking Scott for a walk, he needs to get used to the town's smell." I nodded and went to sit on the couch. "Want to join us, or are you going to mope all day on the sofa?" I rolled my eyes.
"I think I'll skip the risk and stay here."
"You sure? There's some old train tracks we could walk on." I smiled and got up.
"Where are the old tracks?"
"About five minutes down the road, pretty sure they're abandoned. You'll have no chance of getting hit by a train, and might find a spot you like."
"I'm in, if anything happens I'm blaming you." he laughed
"Deal, now grab your things, I'm leaving with or without you in five minutes." I raced upstairs to grab my boots and coat. I already knew I put my boots in the closet, I just wasn't sure about my coat. I slipped the boots on and raced around my room looking in different boxes till I spotted my fluffy parka. I quickly threw it on and saw my brother opening the door.
"Hey!" I yelled, "don't leave without me."
"Wasn't planning on it Nene." I smiled and took a deep breath of the cold colorado air. It felt the same as our old house, just smelt way more clean.
As we walked down the sidewalk, I didn't see a single person in sight. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and started to run. "Hey, wait up," I heard Leon scream. I didn't listen and felt on cloud nine, Dr. Garcia was right about this place.
"It'll be better for you there, there'll be fewer people there." I gulped. "I know you're worried it'll happen again, but I'm sure you'll start to feel safe when you go outside. Remember how nice it felt being freed from that house? That's the same outdoors as there. Someone will always be close to take your hand. I doubt Leon will let you out of his sight, he's just as worried as you are." I nodded and avoided her eyes. "Look, I can't cure you."
"I know."
"You have to find it in yourself, trust me when I tell you these things." I nodded while looking at my feet. "You'll be able to overcome this. Your social anxiety and phobias can't hold you back forever, unless you let it. There's so much good in the world, you just have to get past the bad. You've already seen hell dear, there's only one place for you to see now. I have faith in you, and your brother." I looked up when she mentioned my brother. "He's told me everything he's going to try to do to help you. He's a very good kid, he'd drop his whole life just to fix yours. You need to confide in him, I won't be around to save you next time."
As I was lost in thought, my brother caught up to me and shook me. "Nene, what are you looking at?" I looked up at him and smiled.
"Just the beautiful scenery, I'm glad you dragged me out here."
"I didn't drag you, stop being dramatic." I rolled my eyes as we started walking again.

We soon saw a broken down house? Or store, I wasn't sure to be honest. "Woah, look there's stray cats." I looked over to where my brother was pointing, but then he grabbed my hand and pulled me back behind a tree.
"What was that for?"
"Not trying to alarm you Nene, but I think I saw someone." my heart sank. "Don't worry, I don't think they saw us."
"They?" I barked at him. He shushed me with his hand as he peered over the corner. I pulled his hand off my mouth, "I thought you said we wouldn't see anyone." He groaned.
"I thought everyone would be at school and work, I didn't think that people would skip." I shook my head as I felt tears fall.
"I'm so stupid," I said while sitting down.
"No you're not," he sighed while sitting down next to me. I signaled Scott to come over and he layed on my lap. I covered my ears while I looked up to the sky. The sound of crunching snow played in my ears, and I looked up to see four boys. My brother greeted them with a smile like he knew them.
"Oh Nene, These are the boys I saw next door yesterday." Three of them waved, while the bigger one just crossed his arms and nodded. I didn't say or do anything, I was frozen in fear.
"Who are you again?" the bigger one asked. "Are you like his girlfriend or something?"
"Oh, she's my sister Eric." He smiled at them while walking towards them.
"You didn't tell us you had a sister." The boy with the curly red hair responded.
"I forgot to tell her I made friends as well." he glanced over at me apologetically and then continued. "Guys this is Neoma, She's my twin sister. Nene, this is Kyle, Stan, Eric, and Kenny." I watched as he pointed to each one as he said their name.
"I think there's something wrong with your sister." Eric said.
"Dude, not cool" Kyle shouted.
"I'm just saying, like look at her. She's been staring at us and hasn't moved or said a single thing. It's creeping me out," He barked back. I watched my brother give Eric a death glare till he shut up. The atmosphere grew thick with awkward tension until Kyle spoke.
"Don't listen to Cartman, he doesn't know when to shut his fat mouth." Eric looked like he was about to protest till Kenny barged in.
"I think there might be something wrong," He said as he walked into my direction. "I think she's afraid of something, just look at her eyes they're tearing up." As he kept getting closer, my whole body began to shake as Scott did his best to comfort me. His eyes widened as he saw me shake. "Oh," he said matter of factly. "She's scared of us."
"Oh shoot, I'm sorry nene, I didn't mean to scare you." My brother ran over and hugged me. "She has some bad social anxiety and agoraphobia," he said while turning to the boys."
"Oh, we didn't mean to scare you." Kyle quickly said.
"Yeah, we just wanted to see who was with Leon," Stan chimed in. Kenny nodded while Eric had a guilty look on his face. I tried to speak but was cut short.
"Nene, these are my friends, they won't hurt you." All the boys nodded in agreement as I felt the tension in my body leave. I wasn't too sure About Eric, But the other three seemed nice.
"Okay," I quietly said. The boys smiled while Leon pulled me to my feet.
"So, why aren't you guys at school?" Leon questioned.
"Yesterday one of our teachers got into a fight with our principal. It was hilarious," Stan said while wheezing. "I think Token got it on video."
"Text him and see if he does, I also think Clyde might have taken one too." Kyle said while laughing.
"Yeah yeah, it wasn't as funny as watching Butters getting rejected." Eric said annoyed. I heard him grumble curses under his breath and I giggled. The boys turned their heads to me and started to laugh as well. I smiled as I looked at the four boys who made me feel happy being near people for the first time in awhile.
