Daron's POV:

I finally tuned my guitar to how I wanted it, then Ms. Humboldt began "Okay class, I will now be assigning your partners." I looked to the back of the room and saw Serj, Shavo, and John all laughing.

"losers" i muttered to myself.

I turned back around to the front. Ms. Humboldt continued assigning partners, but I really didn't pay any attention to any of them besides when I heard that Serj and Shavo were together, and John was partnered with Chanel. John and Chanel had to do a different assignment though, because they were the only two who played the drums in our class. Then Ms. Humboldt assigned my partner..

"Mr. Malakian and Y/n".

I wasn't disappointed with my partner, I was actually quite relived it was them. "Okay class, please meet with your partners and begin your assignment. John and Chanel I will be telling you two your assignment in a moment." I stood up out of my seat, grabbed my guitar, and made my way over to y/n's seat.

Y/N's POV:

After finally calming down and getting my cheeks back to their regular color.. I took out my guitar, while Ms. Humboldt was assigning partners, and tuned it. I wanted to make sure that I was able to make a riff in the perfect tune. Then I heard her say

"Mr. Malakian and Y/n." my heart dropped.

I couldn't breathe.

"M-m- me?? and D- Daron?? Oh god." I thought.

I have always wanted to be partnered with him, he has always been able to come up with some cool guitar riffs, and even some really good short songs. Daron is that kind of creative that people don't really appreciate. It's the simplicity of his work that makes it so unique.

"Less is more" replayed in my head constantly after hearing him say that once.

Daron grabbed his guitar and made his way over to where I was sitting.

"Hey" I said to him as he sat his guitar down and took a seat next to me.

"Hey y/n! How are you this fine monday morning?" he said looking at me and then out the classroom window.

I looked at the window to see what he was looking at, and I saw the beautiful dark clouds that swelled with rain.

I smiled and looked back at him "im doing pretty well, considering the weather is the way it is right now. It's definitely the best time to write some music."

Daron looked at me with his eyes wide open.

"what??"  I said mirroring his facial expression.

"you.. like the rainy weather??" he questioned.

"I love the rainy weather. its so calming and I love the way this weather makes me feel." Daron looked at me in awe.

"I think the same thing... not a lot of people appreciate the rain, but I think that the rain is so beautiful." I smiled.

"well, Im glad to know we feel the same way about this weather." Daron smiled back at me, then he said "Okay, so. About this guitar riff.. what are we thinking?".

I thought for a moment, and then, I got it.

"So how about we do something like (imagine you do the riff from "they say" by scars on broadway)."

Daron's jaw was practically on the floor. "Thats perfect. Did you just come up with that??" he asked.

"Well, its something I've been working on. but i think I need to change from A to F"

Daron picked up his guitar and mimicked the riff, but he played in F. That part alone was godly, It sounded perfect in F. I don't know what was hotter.. Daron, or the riff...

Snapping me out of my little fangirl thoughts, he says "I think it sounds SICK in F. What do you think?."

I then played the riff in F and said "It does sound sick. I love it."

Daron looked at me excitedly and played the riff one more time before he said "I think if we layered this riff with some bass, it would add a little bit more depth."

I looked at him and nodded my head. I walked over to grab the bass in the back of the classroom, hooked it up, and began strumming the strings. I did a few random chords then Daron said "Wait! play that again.."

I strummed the strings again and he said "dude, that layers perfectly. let's use that and layer the guitar and bass together."

Daron picked up his guitar once more, and then he signaled to start playing. The guitar and the bass came together perfectly.

The classroom went silent as Daron and I practiced our riff. I heard someone say "woah. thats sick." I smiled.

Once we finished, Ms. Humboldt walked over to Daron and I and said

"Impressive. I like what you two did by adding the bass. It really added more depth to the already strong guitar chords. Since you already finished this assignment, I want you two to create a song. It could be anything you'd want it to be. But, it will be due next monday. Please use your time this week wisely. You will be excused from any other in class assignments to work on this project I have just given you."

Daron's POV:

Ms. Humboldt smiled at Y/n and I, and walked away to another pairs assignment. I looked at y/n and she looked proud of what we just accomplished in the span of 5 to 10 minutes. I was honestly suprised at how quick that was put together, and how well it was executed. Partner match made in heaven I guess you could say. Y/n was a better partner than Serj. He always wanted to do something more theatrical, but I wanted something similar to KISS or Slayer.. but I think y/n has the perfect mix of KISS, Slayer, and some theatrics. I mean hey, they are in theater, so obviously there is a balance.

I looked at y/n and said "well, partner.. lets get to thinking of what we want to do with our song."
