Maliya
Doing all this running was making my stomach turn. I really don't know why I tried out for track in the first place, this is what I get for tryna impress her. I chucked up the little bit of strength I had left in me and pushed through. I had three more laps to go, I was almost done. I felt the wind kiss my freshly oiled scalp as the oxygen punched my lungs.
All I could think about was the supreme taco meal I was going to order from Taco Bell after practice. Even though I should really go on a diet, I just couldn't pull myself to start it. "Keep that ass tight, Oakland!" Coach yelled at me from across the field in an effort to hype me up. I should really go and yolk her fat ass up for having us run in the blazing sun like this.
I wheezed as I felt the suffocating howl of victory fill my head when I finally finished with my laps. I could barely tell what time it was on my watch from how dizzy I had gotten. I really need to quit this tiring ass sport. "Yo, Oakland!" I turn around to see Neicy jogging up to me with a large bottle of poland spring in her hand. "You look like you finna drop dead soon, sis!"
She hands the bottle to me and I gratefully take it into my possession. Untwisting the cap, I gulped down the crisp water that felt like heaven. After a few sips, I look up at Niecy with gratitude. I honestly hated her phony ass but I had to live with it. The perks of being too poor to afford a one suite dorm.
"You seen Ray this week? I feel like she's been dodging me ever since our kiss" She stands off to the side with her arms folded. I bite down the urge to roll my eyes and dismiss her but I keep my composure. "Nah, she hasn't been to practice for a couple of days" I say coolly. Niecy knew I had some type of liking for Ray, yet she decided to latch her claws onto her and play me out. She really is one cold-hearted bitch. "Oh.." She looks me up and down like she had some sort of problem. I was about 2.5 seconds away from knocking her high yella ass out before a tall, slim shadow approached us.
"I need to talk to you." The voice of the person I had been secretly in love with for the past semester had risen. I didn't have to look up to know who she was talking to. "Finally. You didn't see me calling your phone Ray? I had to ask this big headed bitch over here if she knew your whereabouts. You know she's ya personal stalker at the moment" Imma really swing on this hoe.
Tucking my lip into my teeth, I hurriedly tried to tie my shoe so I wouldn't have to wait around, wallowing in embarrassment any further. I think everybody on campus knew I was feeling Ray. I mean it's not like I was hiding it. I stood up and cleared my throat, not bothering to even look at the pair. I calmly walked in between them and started to make my way to my dorm. That was until I heard, "Maliya."
I stopped dead in my tracks, I didn't even know she knew my name. I didn't even think she would talk to me after Neicy just aired my business out. I reluctantly turned around, avoiding eye contact at first, but I forced myself to look at her. You know the feeling you get when you feel like somebody's burning a whole on the side of your face? Yeah, that's what I felt when I looked over and saw Niecy's eyeballs piercing into my soul. Fuck.
I stayed silent while looking at the benches behind her. "I need to talk to you" I tried to understand why she was making my life harder by talking to me in front of her side quest. She knows damn well that she could have waited until she caught me by myself. Oh lord. "Whatchu need to talk to her for?" Neicy rolled her neck at her. Ray squinted at her, pushing past her in order to walk towards me. My breath hitched while I tried to allow saliva to slide down my throat. She stood over my 5'5 frame by 5 inches, engulfing my personal space. I mean, it's not like I was complaining.
She bent down and let her breath linger by the lobe of my ear for a while until she spoke. "Meet me by the 3rd wing in the westward part of campus." Bastard. I know she knows what I feel towards her and she does this to me. My god. The heat from my ear is removed when she lifts her head and peers down at me. I blink a couple of times, trying to process the event that just went down. She presents a close lipped smile which I want to swipe off her face.
"You good, mama?" me being too busy staring at her mouth, I didn't hear what came out of it. Clearing my throat, I try to think of a generic response, "Yes. Can you repeat what you said though? I kinda zoned out because it's so...it's really-" I looked around "it's really hot outside, so it's hard to concentrate" smiling up at her, hoping she'd believe my embarrassing claim.
"I asked if you understood what I just asked you" I still can't get over the fact that she's speaking a sentence to me. I only ever got a "well played" or anything dealing with track. I hummed, "Yeah I understood perfectly fine." I forgot about the third body until she sucked her teeth, "Alright you ain't gotta be all cheesy now. Relax your gums before we see some plaque."
I'm deadass 2.5 seconds away from slapping the bobble headed bitch upside her head. She needs to stop talking out her neck to me. I would've been knocked some sense into her, if she wasn't such a pussy. All this girl does is dish shit out and run to the dean. Swear I can't stand a cry baby ass hoe. I look her up and down and scrunch my face up. I try to control my breathing from the embarrassment I feel with Ray standing in front of me, watching me not stick up for myself. It's so humiliating.
"Ray, I don't know how many times I gotta tell you. Stop ignoring me before I have to start boxing yo black ass!" She needed to turn her volume down. She was talking as if she wasn't the same person to lose all of the 5 fights she had this semester. We moved in 2 months ago and she already started acting a fool. "Aight ma chill out. You see me tryna have a conversation with ya girl."
I look up at the mention of "your girl." Who's her girl? Nobody on campus even likes the bitch nor wants to tolerate her. "Ray, you need to chill out. Playing in my face with a hoe that can't even count the amount of bodies she has on one hand!" I would never stoop so low to impress somebody who barely acknowledges me.
