The streets darkened, the rain poured hard, as a brown haired girl with matching eyes and tan skin came running in, closing her umbrella. The rain kept dripping off of the umbrella, even as the girl came walking further into the building and stopping at a door, keys cold in her hand. Once getting the keys to work, she pushed open the door to see another woman in the kitchen wiping part of the counter down; she had lighter brown hair and a few blonde highlights, with brown eyes and light tan skin." There you are, Maroon!" She stated as the soaked girl took off her jacket. Repealing, Maroon said " Jayla, I'm fine, there's no need to worry-"
Cutting her off, Jayla said "No, remember the last time you said you were fine? You were almost kidnapped!"
Nodding, Maroon said "Okay, and how long ago was that? Two weeks ago!" Maroon protested. Firing back, Jayla said "Just two weeks ago! You need to be more careful." Rolling her eyes, Maroon remarked, "Whatever, did the mail come in yet?" She nodded. "Yeah, we got the two colleges' letters from the two schools you applied for and the two I applied for. I was thinking we should wait until dad comes home. It's only going be ten minutes anyways."
In agreement, the two sisters waited, until the black door opened once again. "Hey girls! I'm home." and then closing the door. Reaching to pat his head, Jayla said, " I thought there was more hair on your head." Joining in on the fun, Maroon said, "Really Jayla? I thought he was bald." Seemingly chill, he joked, "You won't stop teasing me about my almost bald head until the day I'm gone." "Oh no, we still will, Dad," Maroon said, as she walked over to the counter and started to grab something. "What are you getting, Maroon?" He asked, walking towards the couch and sitting down. "Well, these are the letters from the colleges that I and Jayla applied to," Maroon stated while passing two of the letters to Jayla. "Well, Jayla, you can open yours first!" Maroon offered as she sat down with them.
With a quick motion to open the letter, she held the letter in her hands, a smile growing from the left and right "I got in!" Jayla almost screamed as she hugged her dad. "That's great, Jayla! How about you read the other one?" The dad and Jayla replied. "Nope, this is the school I want to go to! Plus, it's cheaper."
With a frown, he replied, "Jayla, are just picking this school because it's cheaper? Or is it the school you want to go to?"
"I want to go to the school, but let's look at the other one," Jayla responded, carefully opening the second envelope. "Well... Dad, I didn't just get into the college I wanted, but I got to one! I'll be going to college!" Jayla added, her smile growing even larger.
"I'm so happy for you, Jayla!" He said, hugging her, letting ago he turn to the other girl. "How about you open your letters too?" Maroon nodded, reaching for one of the letters and carefully tore it open. Her eyes glazed across the letter. Slowly, the smile turned into a frown. "What's wrong? " Jayla asked her, nervous.
"I got rejected, but I, still have one more school to look at!" Maroon stated, reaching for the second letter, but only to be interrupted. "Rejected?" The dad asked, with a disappointed nod and a hug, he says, "I'm sorry Maroon." "Don't worry Dad, besides, I can help you out with finance and also with Jayla's tuition." "Okay, I guess you're right Maroon, but you shouldn't have to help me. I just wish it didn't have to be like this. I wish it could be both of you going to school and, maybe we'd all end up super-rich and have happy lives." "But, money isn't everything! We can still be happy, even with hardly any money at all!" Jayla started positively with Maroon nodding. "Well, bring it in girls!" He said, holding them together in one big hug, but it still intrigued Maroon. What would happen now?
